The Medieval village of Santa Croce sull'Arno

The original settlement of the village of Santa Croce sull'Arno had a quadrangular plant with a network of three roads crossing each other and forming a right angle.

In the very heart of the historic centre rises the Parish Church that saves on its right side the remains of a Romanic lunette.

Inside the church there is the Holy Cross Chapel, where it is possible to admire a wooden sculpture dating back to the XII-XIIIth century, portraying the "Holy Face".

Very interesting is also the Saint Cristiana Church, built in the XVIII-th century.

The religious building shows on its vault a fine fresco painted by Anton Domenico Bamberini and a plate by a Florentine artist portraying "Resurrected Christ and Saints".
