Alberobello Travel Guide

Alberobello is one of the most unique places to visit in the Puglia region of southeast Italy. The Trulli Of Alberobello are white-washed stone huts with dark, sloped conical roofs, and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you’re in the Puglia area Alberobello is definitely worth a visit!

Bar “Veni,Vidi,Mangi”

This small bar boasts a simple, but stunning patio overlooking the Trulli. If you can grab a seat this is a great place to grab a drink and watch the sunset!

Top Things to do in Alberobello

Alberobello is fairly small & the main attraction really is wandering through the unique Trulli Unesco Heritage site. There are no specific attractions or things I’d recommend seeing/doing other than just taking a few hours to explore the area!

Where to Stay in Alberobello

In a Trulli

If you’re looking to splurge a bit and have a unique experience try staying in a Trulli. Some great options are:

Where I Stayed

I was only in Alberobello for one night and wasn’t planning on spending much time in the room, so I opted for a hotel on the cheaper side that was still easily walkable to the Trulli.

Hotel Ramapendula is about a ten minute walk from the Trulli area of Alberobello. The hotel is simple, clean, has a restaurants and a pool. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for an affordable option in Alberobello with parking!

Getting to Alberobello

By Car

For exploring Puglia, including getting to Alberobello I highly recommend renting a car! This whole region is much easier to explore with a car.  I usually rent my cars through Booking.com as they aggregate costs, options and reviews from all rental companies in the area.

From Bari, the main town of the region where you’ll find the closest airport and largest train station it’s about a 50 minute drive.

By Bus

If you don’t want to rent a car your next easiest option for getting to Alberobello from Bari is by taking the bus. The bus takes just over an hour and runs generally every 2 hours. Tickets can be found here.

The bus leaves from Bari Largo Sorrentino, the bus station located right outside of Bari’s main train station, Bari Centrale and drops off at the main station in Alberobello, where you can easily walk to the main Trulli area.

By Train

I do not recommend taking the train from Bari, you actually need to take two trains, one from Bari to Putignano, and then Putigano to Alberobello. The bus is faster and cheaper.

Parking in Alberobello

If you are driving to Alberobello, many accomodations right outside the main Trulli area offer parking. If you’re just visiting for the day you’ll need to pay to park. The main road leading into the historical Trulli area is “Via Indipendenza” and there are a series of parking lots along this road.

You can find them on Google maps here. Any of the areas labele “Parcheggio” are parking areas.

How Many Days to Spend in Alberobello

1 Day or a few Hours

Alberobello is super cool and I highly recommend visiting! It’s one of the more unique places I’ve seen, that being said, you really don’t need more than a few hours to explore the area.

I stayed for one night, but after a few hours exploring & then dinner with a view I was ready for my next stop!

Safety for Solo Female Travel in Alberobello

4.5 out of 5

Alberobello is super safe for solo female travel. The Puglia region in general has become wildly popular, and I found it very safe as a solo traveler.
