'The Wrath of Becky'

Quiver Distribution has provided Bloody Disgusting with an exclusive clip from sequel The Wrath of Becky today, and it spotlights a bloody kill from the upcoming movie.

The Wrath of Becky will release exclusively in theaters on May 26, 2023.

Check out the exclusive clip below, wherein star Lulu Wilson brutally dispatches Courtney Gains (Children of the Corn, The ‘Burbs, Rob Zombie’s Halloween)!

In the film, “Two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family, Becky attempts to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman – a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.”

Lulu Wilson stars alongside Seann William Scott, Matt Angel, Courtney Gains, Aaron Dalla Villa, Michael Sirow, Denise Burse-Fernandez, Jill Larson, and Kate Siegel.

Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote (The Open House) wrote and directed Becky 2.

Angel and Coote said in a statement, “There’s nothing like a good revenge film. Maybe everyone feels that way. Or maybe that’s just us, given we’ve both been in therapy for a considerable portion of our adult lives, and need to find our catharsis somewhere. The point is, when we were approached to write and direct a sequel to Becky, we said yes without hesitation.

“A movie about a 16-year-old girl with anger management issues, slaughtering a bunch of irredeemables in the most violent ways possible? Yeah… we’ll make that movie.

“All great sequels build upon what made their predecessors successful: they evolve; they take the time to establish the new intricacies of a familiar character; they build upon the original audience’s desires, while simultaneously bringing new fans into the fold. We set out to make The Wrath of Becky that sequel.

“From the first frame, we wanted to subvert the expectations of anyone who has seen the first film — to elevate what we saw as a franchise-worthy character to the next level. We wanted to make Becky a symbolic force — a vigilante — hellbent on destroying some of the darkness we see in the headlines today. And, most importantly, we wanted The Wrath of Becky to continue our heroine’s quest for justice. This is a girl who will fight for what she loves most, by any means necessary, no matter the cost — and she may even enjoy herself in the process.”

Blumhouse Bringing the ‘My Bloody Valentine’ Franchise Back to Life [Exclusive]

Published

on

Released in 1981, the original Canadian slasher classic My Bloody Valentine spawned a Hollywood remake (My Bloody Valentine 3D) in 2009, but it’s now been 15 years since we’ve heard a peep from the franchise about a sadistic and bloodthirsty miner with a pick(axe) to grind. But as “The Ballad of Harry Warden” once told us, it’s a curse that will live on and on…

And the My Bloody Valentine franchise does indeed plan to live on, as Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned that Blumhouse is developing a brand new My Bloody Valentine movie.

Stay tuned for more information as we learn it.

My Bloody Valentine is one of those franchises that never was, with both the original movie and the 2009 remake failing to spawn follow-up movies. That’s despite Lionsgate’s My Bloody Valentine 3D scaring up $100 million at the worldwide box office, and the original becoming a classic that horror fans enjoy watching every time the calendar flips to February 14.

George Mihalka directed the original 1981 movie. In the film, “A decades-old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine’s Day turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer’s order and people start turning up dead.”

Directed by Patrick Lussier, the 3D remake follows a similar storyline. “Tom returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine’s night massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders, and it seems like his old flame is the only one that believes he’s innocent.”

“In this little town when the 14th comes ’round, there’s a silence and fear in the air…”
