Description
Ursprünglich die Mitteltafel eines Triptychons; die Flügel mit Figuren von zwei Engeln auf der Vorderseite, die die Instrumente der Passion Christi halten (die Rückseiten wurden neu bemalt), gingen im Zweiten Weltkrieg verloren; Die im 19. Jahrhundert erwähnte und mit diesem Retabel in Verbindung gebrachte Predella (Hirsch, 1843-1847) verschwand zu einem unbestimmten Zeitpunkt. Das Gemäldes weist auf einen niederdeutschen von Meister Francke inspirierten Künstler hin (Figurenstilisierung, Lyrik) auch ist der Einfluss der niederländischen Malerei (Detailgestaltung) erkennbar. Thema der Heiligen Dreifaltigkeit nach Pietas Domini, die dem burgundischen ikonographischen Typus (Pitié-de Nostre-Seigneur) entstammt; dogmatische, soteriologische Darstellung: Gott der Vater präsentiert den vom Kreuz abgenommenen Leib Christi als Zeichen der Versöhnung mit der Menschheit, die dank der Barmherzigkeit des Vaters und des Gehorsams des Sohnes durch das Opfer des Erlösers erfolgte. Das Zeichen der erlösten Welt ist die Kugel unter den Füßen Christi
