Description
Bahasa Indonesia: Bulu ekor pada Merak jantan bila dikembangkan, akan terlihat sangat indah dan semarak.

Bulu ekor berbentuk kipas dan bermotif seperti mata ini gunanya untuk menarik perhatian Merak betina.

Burung Merak termasuk dalam keluarga ayam hutan.

Seperti ayam, di bagian kepala burung merak juga ada jambul.

Berbeda dengan yang jantan, burung Merak betina bentuknya lebih kecil dan warnanya tidak seindah yang jantan.

Ada tiga spesies burung merak, yaitu merak biru (Pavo cristatus), merak hijau (Pavo muticus), dan merak kongo (Afropavo congensis). Ada juga merak albino yang berbulu putih. Merak albino terjadi karena kelainan genetik.

Merak berbulu putih ini menetas dari telur Merak biru atau Merak hijau.

Burung Merak suka makan biji-bijian, pucuk dedaunan, aneka serangga, dan cacing.

Walaupun burung ini berbadan besar dan lebih sering berjalan di tanah, tapi burung ini ternyata bisa terbang.
