Inspiration
The idea came from our interest in photography. Through our personal experience, it is not always easy to find people willing to participate in, say, a portrait shot. To make the process more efficient, we came up with the idea of a platform for photographers and people interested in having photoshoots to meet.
What it does
This app implements the sharing of photos, by allowing freelance photographers to connect with individuals in the surrounding area who wants a personal or social photoshoot. This provides photographers a chance to improve their shooting skills and pursue personal projects. On the user side, Grafie allows them to search through a network of photographers to find one matching their needs.
How we built it
Grafie is an android app created in Android Studio. It uses Java language, XML and MySQL in its development.
Challenges we ran into
Back-end programming is an area that both of us did not have previous experience with, thereby presenting a great obstacle.
What we learned
Through the challenges we ran into, we gained a lot more experience working with back-end servers. We believe this is an essential skillset to develop and will be very useful in the future as well.
What's next for Grafie
We wish to create a website and iOS version of the app for Grafie, to provide users and photographers with easier access to this service. We hope that Grafie will follow in the footsteps of trending apps such as SnapChat, Uber and Airbnb.
