In the Hollywood industry today, not many people can claim that they have achieved something more than what the business had to give, but Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of those individuals who can do so. While it may have existed for a long time before, the introduction of Arnold Schwarzenegger to bodybuilding is what put the sport to the general public’s notice. As the star shifted his sights to the world of cinema and Hollywood, the popularity of the sport just grew in proportion to his success. But even when he was so successful as a bodybuilder with an almost unbeatable physique in his arsenal, he had to bow down to the one and only Sergio Oliva, who was the legend that changed the entire sport.

Known as The Myth in bodybuilding circles, Oliva is considered to be the man who set the standards for modern-day bodybuilding with his insane proportions and musculature, the sheer mass and size of which may be intimidating for most. It is widely accepted that he was the most genetically gifted athlete to ever take the stage and dominate the entire game. He was the consecutive winner of the coveted Mr. Olympia title from 1967 to 1969, beating the Terminator star in 1969 and becoming the three-time champion.

But this wasn’t the only department where the athlete beat the action icon. When it comes to the measurements of their arms, chest, and waist, Schwarzenegger boasted of a staggering waist size of 30″ with arms and chest measuring around 22″ and 57″ respectively. Oliva on the other hand had an insane 27″ waist size with biceps measuring around 22.5″ and a chest almost 60″ in size, making him one of, if not the most genetically superior bodybuilder to have ever lived.

While he may have been beaten by Sergio Oliva before, the star took it as a challenge to make himself better than his competitor, which led to him defying all expectations when he won his first IFBB Pro Mr. Olympia title in 1970 after being defeated by Oliva the previous year. This marked the first milestone of his bodybuilding legacy.

After that, he consecutively won every single competition for the Mr. Olympia title from 1971 to 1975, which made him a six-time champion of the sport. Then again, when he entered the stage in 1980, he became the seven-time champion, an unprecedented feat of that time.
