The Nike Air Max Plus is one of the brand’s more unusual success stories, having launched in 1998 as a Foot Locker-exclusive. Next year, the hit shoe will get a modern revamp as the Air Max Plus Drift.

The existence of the new Air Max Plus model was first reported by Complex, which obtained internal documents setting the shoe’s debut for the early half of 2024. A neon yellow colorway will kick things off fo the summer 2024 collection as an exclusive to Nike‘s neighborhood retailers. A “Light Silver” colorway is then slated for an April release, while a “Concord” iteration will follow in May.

Because specifics on what makes the Air Max Plus Drift different are limited to what the eye can see, for now we can only say that the new model will feature a thicker molded section as the defining feature. The midfoot TPU shank also takes on a gridded texture, while smaller, more subtle tweaks can be seen throughout.

Nike routinely remixes some of its most iconic sneakers, and the model was previously tweaked as the Air Max Terrascape Plus in 2021. That shoe features the partial use of recycled materials and a rougher appearance that befits the idea of repurposing.

The baseline Air Max Plus will also see a release this month as a three-way collaboration with Dutch retailer Patta and FC Barcelona — a can’t-miss for supporters of the Catalan giants.

Expect more information on the Air Max Plus Drift to arrive as its release nears.
