Ciola Earns First Team All-AMCC Honors

NORTH BOSTON, NY – Senior Maria Ciola capped her impressive career as a member of the Franciscan volleyball team with a All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference first team honor, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Ciola, the lone representative from the Lady Barons on the all-conference teams, was a four-year starter for the Franciscan volleyball team and her final season was one of the best. Ciola averaged 3.28 kills per set this season and finished first in the AMCC with 4.33 kills per set against conference teams. The Burk, VA native had a career-best 279 kills this season and finished her career with 988, good for third on the all-time kills list at Franciscan. Ciola was a standout defensive player as well as she posted 178 digs for the year and 107 in conference action. Ciola was responsible for 4.6 points per set against AMCC teams and was first in the conference. Ciola hit .244 for the year against conference teams and had 143 total kills.

Ciola posted eight double-doubles this season, including a career-best 28 kills and 22 digs against Penn St.-Altoona. Ciola's 28 kills set Franciscan's single-match record. The senior posted at least 20 kills in four of her final five matches as a Lady Barons. Ciola holds the top three spots on the single-match kill list now with 28, 25, and 23 (twice).

In her career, Ciola averaged 2.64 kills per set, third-most at Franciscan, and hit .163 for her career. Ciola's 3,158 attack attempts is the second-most attempt total in Franciscan's record book.
The Lady Barons finished the season 4-21.
