I have to admit, while I have a little bit of a sweet tooth, it mostly extends to gummy candies. Ice cream and gelato aren’t my go to desserts. After dinner at my favorite sushi spot in Fells Point, Sticky Rice, my friends were craving something sweet. About two blocks away is Pitango Gelato and they have awesome gelato as well as a few beverages so we headed over.

Most of my friends ordered gelato because that’s the main reason we headed over to Pitango Gelato in Fells Point. One of my friends decided to try the Vanilla Chocolate Chip Gelato. This was incredibly creamy with tons of chocolate chips spread evenly throughout the dessert. I’ve never been to Italy, but she said it’s as good as the gelato there. Now that’s saying something.

Another one of my friends ordered a latte, which came with some beautiful Latte Art which I’m always a fan of. But the latte was your standard cup of counter culture coffee.

I was in the mood for something a little different and decided to order the Affogato. If you’re not familiar an Affogato is a shot of espresso with a scoop of gelato inside. Pitango does something awesome though where you can get your scoop of ice cream placed in their sipping chocolate if you’re not an espresso fan. Sipping chocolate is this deliciously rich and creamy hot chocolate but we didn’t order it this time because it was a warm summer night. But back to my affogato, I picked a scoop of the chocolate gelato to be dunked in a shot of espresso. The gelato melted within a few minutes and cooled down the espresso leaving me with a deliciously sweet after dinner treat.

Overall, we were all very happy with the desserts at Pitango Gelato and can’t wait to go back to Fells Point to have some more of that delicious affogato.
