Coccinelle debuts at Milan Design Week with limited-edition Cracking Art collaboration

Coccinelle will be appearing at Milan Design Week for the first time with a new creative project in partnership with Cracking Art

ITALY. Italian womenswear and accessories house Coccinelle is to make its Milan Design Week (16-21 April) debut featuring a collection created through a collaboration with renowned Italian art group Cracking Art.

A limited number of pieces are available for this collection on the brand’s website and at its flagship store in Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Milan from 16 April, and in selected stores worldwide from 22 April.

Cracking Art is popular for transforming plastics into artistic expressions. It also creates large-scale animal installations, which have adorned squares and building façades worldwide.

The collaborative project between Cracking Art and Coccinelle features the Rabbit Bag, a bunny-shaped purse.

The Coccinelle cross-body rabbit-shaped bag comes in fuchsia, orange and green

The rabbit, considered a symbol of new beginnings, represents Coccinelle’s entry into the world of design, the company said.

One of Cracking Art’s most distinctive subjects has been reimagined into a minaudière featuring organic shapes, a seamless blend of fashion and art, Coccinelle added.

To promote its collaboration with Cracking Art, Coccinelle produced a film featuring the bag-making process
Cracking Art has been renowned for their innovative art installations, meticulously made from regenerated plastic

The exclusive miniature Rabbit bags are crafted with materials derived from the pulverisation of artworks no longer in use in Cracking Art installations.

Described as “playful, refined, and at the same time, a nomadic accessory” the bag comes in the three signature shades of Cracking Art – fuchsia, orange and green.

To celebrate the launch of the collection, Coccinelle hosted an event at its showroom in Via Vincenzo Forcella 5 Milan, showcasing the bag and colourful artworks.

To further promote the collaboration, Coccinelle will display the artworks alongside its Rabbit Bag collection in its international boutiques, including Milan, Munich, Bangkok, Shanghai and more. The company is also running various activities on social media.

The campaign also includes promotional films featuring AI-generated images of rabbits, while another video shows the making of the bag.

Coccinelle Chief Operating Officer Emanuele Mazziotta said: “Coccinelle is attending Milano Design Week for the first time. We are very happy to present this special project born from the collaboration with the artists of Cracking Art.

“A project that celebrates the connection between design and fashion, thus allowing us to get closer to a public that is increasingly young, international and aware of the latest trends. The statues of Cracking Art and the Coccinelle Rabbit bag will invade our Milan showroom, becoming protagonists of the most important event for the design industry.

Cracking Art added: “For the first time, our rabbit is completely reinterpreted, creating a real ready-to-wear work of art. We are very pleased to be able to present this new project with the Coccinelle brand.

“Creating an object with the material obtained from the regeneration of our artworks means inserting a percentage of art into everyday life and it is the perfect progression of the urban fairy tales we create with the installations.” ✈
