Taiwanese company Dopod introduces the Dopod 838Pro PDA (based on the HTC's Hermes reference design).

The Dopod 838Pro excels when it comes to wireless connectivity. Supporting Bluetooth Wireless Stereo (A2DP), users can enjoy stereo music wirelessly over compatible A2DP headsets and the device brings 128 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM memory with persistent storage. The screen is a 2.8" 65K color TFT LCD display supporting 240x320 pixels QVGA. Users can also enjoy perfect visuals when they take scenic photos using the unique panoramic mode with the 2 megapixel high picture quality camera. This comes with flash and a unique macro lens and mirror. Users can choose from eight shooting modes with five different effects.

The Dopod 838Pro also comes with a PenPower WorldCard Mobile, a mobile version business card reader which allows users to capture business cards, recognize text information and save to Contacts instantly.

"The Dopod 838Pro is a perfect example of Dopod's commitment to deliver Versatility without Limits to consumers. It is a powerful sliding PDA phone that gives users ultimate connectivity from Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G to HSDPA, easy mail accessibility via Push Mail, mobile email and Pocket MSN, as well as enhanced productivity through Office Mobile and Windows Mobile 5.0. All these enabling tools, plus user-friendly features such as the 360 degree jog-wheel and QWERTY keypad, make the Dopod 838Pro the best PDA experience users can get in a phone," said Jack Tong, CEO of Dopod International Corp.

The Dopod 838Pro is available starting the 2nd week of August 2006 from authorized resellers in Singapore at a suggested retail price (inclusive of GST) of S$ 1,398 and at S$ 1,248 with a two-year contract from operators.
