As of this Sunday, I will be 2 years at #Xbox. I’m super proud of all the work we’ve done for the Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong game dev communities to date.
Here’s the Year 2 scorecard:
🎮 Actively tracking over 200+ new titles from SEA, TW, HK, ANZ; a 50% increase of titles from Year 1. We are a highly productive region.
📢 Launched and marketed awesome games on Xbox like A Space for the Unbound, Coffee Talk Chapter 2, Alina of the Arena, Gigabash, Coral Island, Knights vs Giant, and more.
✅ New, exciting upcoming Xbox titles like Fallen Tear: The Ascension, My Lovely Empress, Altheia and more.
🤝 We signed more funding deals for titles from SEA and TW in Year 2 vs Year 1. This means helping more devs build more amazing games.
🌆 Showed up, supported and sponsored over 20+ industry events over the last year, 2x the number of events in Year 1. I especially love events like SarawakGDC, SGGA Industry Day, Brunei DevFest - all vitally important at building local communities.
💬 Continue to progress meaningful discussions and collaborations with dev communities and associations across SEA and TW. I hosted several roundtables with game devs to gather valuable feedback.
🏫 We launched the first ever Game Camp Asia, a 2-month long learning and mentorship program for student and early-in-career devs. 12 teams represented from SG, PH, ID and MY; with 11 of the 12 teams featuring women devs, which I’m very proud of.
✈ We hosted some game devs from SEA and TW at Korea Xbox Dev Days, all of whom flew in for special days of learning, game sharing, and quality time together.
💪 In Year 2, DE&I remains a top priority for me: we participated and partnered with regional initiatives and groups like YSEALI Game Changers, Women in Games Asia and Indonesia Women in Games.
Overall, I’m proud of our wins in Year 2, and was objectively faster and more productive in the impact we made vs Year 1.
Despite the ongoing challenges in the industry and the world at large, I’m grateful for our amazing community across SEA and TW, all rallying together to raise our ecosystem for everyone in it.
I want to thank my amazing colleagues at ID@Xbox and the wider org, all who demonstrate passion and empathy for the devs, games and industry we participate in. A lot of what I can do in region is thanks in a large part to the support of the wider team across Global Expansion, Biz Ops, our funding programs, Marketing, PR/Comms, Production, etc.
Thank you to my boss Agnes, who continues to lead from the front every single day - clearing blockers and opening doors for me, and advocating for my region just as hard as I do. I can go fast as I have because of her support.
Lastly, thanks to all of Global Expansion’s executive sponsors - Chris, Leo, Christopher, Lori, Sarah - for your continued support for the impact we’re making in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and other GX regions.
The work continues, and I can’t wait to show you all what we’ve got in store for Year 3.
