Martha Stewart, 82, slams ‘age-appropriate’ style rules: ‘I’ve dressed the same since I was 17’

Growing older: It’s a good thing.

Judging by her internet-breaking “thirst traps,” history-making Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover and ever-growing coterie of A-list pals, domestic doyenne Martha Stewart might just be in the prime of her life.

And at 82, Stewart’s got no plans to slow down — or switch up her style to suit traditional rules about “dressing for one’s age.”

“Dressing for whose age?” the multi-hyphenate quipped to Page Six Style on the red carpet at Tuesday’s Fashion Group International Night of Stars gala when asked about the subject.

“I don’t think about age. I think people are more and more and more [fabulous] than they’ve ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them.”

Stewart was on hand to present her longtime friend Dennis Basso with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and further supported the designer by wearing one of his silver-sequined bouclé suits on the carpet — a more Plaza-appropriate take on the sultry, slit-up-to-there style she recently modeled on social media, and not entirely unlike the metallic gown she selected for the 2001 Met Gala more than two decades ago.

“I’ve dressed the same since I was 17,” the “Entertaining” author and former teen model told us. “If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same.”

It seems her nearly two million Instagram followers would agree.

“Martha still out here slaying!!” a fan commented on Stewart’s snaps in the aforementioned high-slit dress; “28 yes. 82 no. You’re absolutely stunning,” another added.

Age is just a number, as they say.
