Habitat: This Parakeet species can be found in forest borders and clearings with scattered trees. Distribution: This species has been reported from eastern Mexico to western Panama; Jamaica. In Panama, this species is only reported from Bocas del Toro. Natural History Notes: The Olive-throated Parakeet is usually found in groups of up to 15 birds and sometimes even more. You may hear its high-pitched screech call when the bird is flying. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 23 cm and 24.4 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a pale bill with a horn shape and a dark iris. We can first distinguish the white colored bare skin around the eye. Then, the plumage above is mostly green and olive brown below. The coloration is more olive green on the belly. Also, the flight feathers are blue above and dark gray below.
