Johnny Bazookatone...

Post by ST Dragon »

Has anybody played Johnny Bazookatone for the PS-1 or Saturn?
Is it any good?
There was also a 1996 PC CD-ROM version.

I remember someone lending me a copy of the PC CD-ROM version, but the disc I got, did not have any executables or setup files to install & play the game, so I would imagine that it had more than 1 CDs...
How many CDs does the game consist of?
Which version is the best & is it worth tracking down?

Thanks in advance.

What I vaugely remember is that the game was God awful. Very poor hit detection, bland/bad level design etc

I got the Bazookatone CD back in 1996-97 & it was an original CD not a copy.
I had only just been introduced into the PC realm in late 1995, so I wasn't very familiar with the files of a Saturn/PSX CD.
As far as I remember there were no *.exe, *.bat or *.com files, so naturally I thought I was missing the 1st CD or something...
Now that I think about it, it must have been a PSX/Saturn CD mistakenly placed inside the PC CD-ROM package.
It was a package by KIXX, similar to the “Terminal Velocity by 3D Realms” KIXX package.

Since I didn't know what to do with it, I sold it to a poor noob the following week. :D

Since this was one of my early PC CD-ROM games & the fact that I never got to play it, left me unsatisfied & wondering what it was like…
The Bazookatone screen shots remind me a bit of Biomechanical Toy on MAME.

I still want to try it… ;)

well you can download a copy (of debatable legality) for the PC at Home of the underdogs, if you're desperate to play

I played it for a few minutes and was thoroughly unimpressed. You can do way better.

There's nothing to debate about the legality of it, it's not. at all.
