Bisacquino (Zip Code 90032) is 82 km. far from Agrigento, 137 km. from Caltanissetta, 246 from Catania, 154 km. from Enna, 311 km. from Messina, 74 km. from Palermo, which province it belongs to, 218 km. from Ragusa, 299 km. from Siracusa, 130 km. from Trapani.

The municipality has 5.215 inhabitants and its area covers 6.474 hectares for a density of population of 81 inhabitants per square kilometre. The small town rises on a inner hill zone and is placed 663 metres above sea-level.

Bisacquino is an industrious agricultural centre. Besides cereals, olives and vegetables, there is also the production of almonds, hazel-nuts and wine-grapes. It is also industrious sheep breeding.

The name Bisacquino derives from an Arabic farm house Busackuin (rich in waters) due to the plenty of waters present in the site.

Until the XII° centtury it was in possession of some local gentlemen but later and until 1778 it became a property of the archbishop from Monreale and remained to him until it changed into Crown lands.

On the near Mount Tritone it is placed the Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Balzo, erected in 1678, that dominates the below valley.

The Cathedral Church of the small town is dedicated to St. Giovanni the Baptist. It was built in 1713 in the same place of the previous Matrix of the cinquecento was destroyed.
