In the very small town the language, habits and customs were Albanian (and still now Albanian dialect is spoken) and the inhabitants conformed to them. In the times the village had belonged to noble Naselli family, Dukes of Gela who added to the original name their homonymous name. The feud was dominion of this family until the abolition of feudal duties. The Cathedral Church with its eighteenth-century riliefs is very interesting from the architectonic point of view.
