Fatty Bear must help the other toys prepare a surprise party for Kayla. He must find the ingredients for a cake and then make it, find the missing letters for the happy birthday sign and blow up some balloons among other things. The game also includes bowling and piano minigames.

NOTE: Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise is the one and only Jr. Adventure to star Fatty Bear & He was reduced to a cameo character for the later games.

If you have an Old Panasonic 3DO Console & the Panasonic 3DO Version of Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise, then the Controls are Simple to understand. In the Japanese Import Version of the game, you can play the game with either the English Audio or Japanese Audio Tracks.

Selecting the Fatty Bear with the US Flag on the Right Side of the Screen with launch the game with the English Audio Track while Fatty Bear with the Japanese Flag on the Left Side of the Screen will launch the game with the Japanese Audio Track.

The 3DO Interactive Multiplayer (often called simply the 3DO) is a video game console platform developed by The 3DO Company. Conceived by entrepreneur and Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins, the 3DO was not a console manufactured by the company itself, but a series of specifications, originally designed by Dave Needle and R. J. Mical of New Technology Group, that could be licensed by third-parties. Panasonic produced the first models in 1993, and further renditions of the hardware were released in 1994 by Sanyo and GoldStar (now LG Corp).

Despite a highly promoted launch (including being named Time magazine's "1994 Product of the Year") and a host of cutting-edge technologies, the 3DO's high price (US $699 at launch) and an over-saturated console market prevented the system from achieving success comparable to veteran competitors Sega and Nintendo.

Since its discontinuation in late 1996, the 3DO has been frequently derided by video game historians.

Good Evening... Tonight's Demo Walkthrough is a Story of Mystery & Suspense.
It seems that a group of friends decide to a surprise a young girl named Kayla on her birthday.
What she doesn't know is to what lengths some will go to surprise her.
And, as should be no surprise to any us, we'll start after a word from our sponsor...


The Game Starts outside Kayla's house in which her birthday is Tomorrow Morning and Fatty Bear along with his friends have been getting ready for her party (Which will be covered in the Retail Version). But in this Demo, you'll need to get the Cake Plate before going into Kayla's home. Go to the backyard and head into the basement. Once in the basement, pick up the garage-door opener, then exit the basement and into the backyard (You'll get the garage-door opener Automaticlly after sliding down a laundry chute in the Retail Version). Go to the Front Yard and use the Garage door Opener on the Garage. Once inside the Garage, use the ladder to get the Cake Plate (The Cake Plate doesn't appear in the Retail Version and is replaced by the Sugar). Once you have the Cake Plate, enter Kayla's house to End the Demo Version.

Please Note that The early HE demos are really short and in the MS-DOS Version of Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise. There are known differences:
1. The music is quieter.
2. There are transitions at the beginning.
3. The cursor is different.
4. The music uses General MIDI.
5. The demo restarts upon completion.
6. The stars twinkle in the background.

Cake Plate: Used to make the Cake in the Demo Version. But it was scrapped from the Retail Version & is replaced by the Sugar.

Garage Door Opener: Used to enter the Garage.

Want to play Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise the Demo Version without any Humongous Entertaiment Discs? Then I'll show you how to do so.

First, download the ScummVM Emulator here:

Then, follow these steps:
1. Create a new Folder on your C Drive and Name it: "HEGames".

5. Create 2 New Folders in your HEGames Folder, then Name them "FBearDemo Win" (If you want to Play the Windows Version) and "FBearDemo DOS" (If you want to Play the MS-DOS Version).

6. Copy the Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise Demo Files to both FBearDemo Win & FBearDemo MS-DOS Folders on your Hard Drive.

7. Run the ScummVM Installer & follow the instructions shown.

8. DON'T Open Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise the Demo Verison just yet. If you're using a newer computer, you'll need to use the ScummVM Emulator.

9. Open ScummVM
10. Select "ADD GAME"

11. Find the folder where Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise the Demo Version is Installed on your Hard Drive, select CHOOSE & then select OK. After that, the game should be added to the ScummVM Library (Do this for both Windows & MS-DOS Versions of the game).

12. Highlight Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise the Demo Version (Windows or MS-DOS Version),
then Double-Click on it to start or select START.

13. Enjoy
