Dragon Chronicle: Legend of the Master Ark is a touch-screen card arcade game that got put out by Namco in 2002; it runs on the company's System 246 hardware, and up to eight people must use the touch-sensitive monitors of the cabinet terminals to train dragons for fighting against each other. There are six different types of dragon (Light, Dark, Ice, Fire, Gold and Thunder), and the players can give them five different types of commands (Shock, Magic, Guard, Shield and Pray) to obey - furthermore, when the game was new, it was also possible for players to save their runs to memory cards and continue where they left off in any arcade that owned a cabinet. A sequel named Dragon Chronicle Online was released in 2004; it only let up to four people play simultaneously, but arcade operators who purchased a cabinet of it when it was new also gained an upright "Dragon Terminal" with a touch panel which players could use for three minutes free of charge (however, if they had to use it for a longer time, they would have to insert a coin into it to continue) to check the data stored on their memory cards until the game's online service was shut down for good on January 7, 2008.
