Françoise Sullivan took this photo at 39 Via del Presto di San Martino, Florence, in the summer of 1976. She was drawn to the messages of the banners hanging on this façade: “Ora Basta di prendere per il culo il popolo” (Stop screwing with the people); and “Doveri, doveri, doveri, doveri. Sempre! Diritti ad honorem” (Always duty, duty, duty, duty. Rights to the fore!). The spirit of these slogans is in keeping with the many examples of graffiti expressing social concerns the artist filmed the following year in Rome. When reconstituting this work in 2021, the artist paid tribute to Gianfranco Sanguinetti, with whom she had a relationship in 1972.
