“When I lived in Tokyo, I used to watch the crows take hangers from my neighbors’ balconies. (Hangers were used to hang out washing to dry.) The crows would work in pairs to remove the clothing from the hangers and then one would fly off with the hanger. I’d never seen the nests though.”
Woa that’s crazy, I’ve never seen that. crows in Tokyo are notorious but I’ve never heard of them doing that!

Crows are amazing problem solvers. I recall seeing a video of a crow that figured out how to crack open walnuts by dropping them into traffic so that a car would run over it.
Some years ago I read a story about a woman who was studying crow behavior. She’d capture and tag them with leg bands for tracking. The crows in the park started recognizing her and scattered whenever she appeared, so she had to wear disguises to complete her study.
