Region Flag/Music Database Notes

  • Changing the region to Europe adds the language option in the operator menu, in the GAME OPTIONS section.
    • With how the cheats are made, language changes (made either via the operator menu or directly with the cheat) will stick even after quitting MAME.
  • The region can be changed at any moment during gameplay but, for the change to be applied, the Operator menu has to be entered and exited. On the other hand, the music database MUST be changed when booting the game.
  • Changing the music database in the Asian version to the Japanese one during booting will make the removed songs appear. However, they won't be properly playable since the audio for them was dummied with the Scale Check.
  • Changing the region to Europe will reveal "Dancing Stage Solo" graphics in the title screen and highscore grid.
  • Changing the music database to Europe or America will cause the game to load SAMBA DE JANEIRO at the mode selection screen, and then freeze upon reaching the song selection menu or the demo play.
This is because the entries in the E and U Music Database files are of a different length than in the J and A ones.

Overdump Data

WILD RUSH

An earlier version of the files for the song WILD RUSH can be found as unreferenced files within GAME.DAT, starting from offset 0x69A800. Differences appear to be rather minimal, with only the song's Maniac charts and background not matching what the game actually uses.

The earlier background bears a closer resemblance to the song's banner.

Early UI Backgrounds

Earlier variants of the background sprites seen in the Internet Ranking and "Welcome to Club DDR Solo" screens. In the former, the earlier version uses a darker background and misspells "ACCESS" as "ACSESS", while the latter version uses a different background image which is also used in the unused "Welcome to Club DS Solo" graphic.

Solo Bass Mix Leftovers

There are also several leftover files from Dance Dance Revolution Solo Bass Mix:

A minidisc graphic for the Bass Mix version of I'M ALIVE.

Offset: 0xC48800
DDR Solo Bass Mix (Arcade) Together Forever Unused Title.png
An earlier banner for the Bass Mix version of the song TOGETHER & FOREVER, which can also be found unused in its origin game.

Empty Spots in Selection Screen

Three of the songlist tag graphics, which can be found in the folder data\texture\banner, contain blank slots. It is likely they were meant to be used for songs that were ultimately cut during development. The below example is taken from the file banner03.cmt

DDR Solo 2000 (Arcade) Empty Song Selection Spots.png

Unused Audio

The file DAT\S2H189R8.DAT, when decrypted, reveals itself to be preview audio for the song IT'S SUMMERTIME by RICKY D. feat. JANINA, which was present in the album Dancemania BASS#5, which is not playable in the final release.
While a music file also exists (M17189R8.DAT), its data was replaced by the Scale Test audio.

Unused Charts

Additional 3-Panel Trick and Maniac chart slots for every song can be found within the game's stepchart files. Most of them are harder than the used 3-Panel charts, but three only use these slots to store a copy (NONSTOP H) or an earlier version (NONSTOP G and NONSTOP I) of their respective "Basic" charts. The data for the unique charts can be downloaded below:

Regional Differences

Attract Mode

  • The sequence promoting Dancemania albums is absent from the Asian release.

Song Selection Screen

  • The Dancemania and Konami Original labels are absent from the Asian release.
  • Several songs are absent from the Asian release. These are: GET OFF, THAT'S THE WAY '98, and both versions of TOGETHER & FOREVER. Additionally, NONSTOP B was removed (since it contains some of the removed songs) and was replaced by NONSTOP I.
