Interview – Red Devil

reddevil

1. Welcome to TheBritishWrestlingRevival cheers for the opportunity to interview you, first of all please introduce yourself to the readers and give them a quick summary of yourself as a wrestler???

Hello everybody, it’s a true honor being interviewed by your blog. My name’s Fabio Ferrari, I’m italian and I wrestle under the name of “Red Devil” in my country and with my real name everywhere else. I’m a former 5 time ICW Italian Champion, 2 times ICW Tag Team champion, and a few Cruiserweight championship in Italy, Switzerland and Germany. I was lucky enough to wrestle in many different countries all over Europe, Africa, and also the Caribbeans.

2. Lets talk about your growing up, did you enjoy watching wrestling growing up or did it start much later and if so, who inspired you to think I am going to become a Wrestler??

I was 6 years old, I was zapping on TV and got absolutely caught with a Hogan-Earthquake match. It was love at first sight. From there on I always watched every kind of wrestling and even if my hero as a child were Ultimate Warrior and Bret Hart, when I grow up I got the opportunity to watch more and more of the one I consider the absolute best, Ric Flair, who really inspires me every time I watch one of his matches.

3. How did you get involved with Wrestling training, who trained you, how was this experience and if you could have been trained by any one else or even do a seminar with dead or alive when you started off wrestling who would it be and why would it have helped you as a wrestler ??

I started wrestling 15 years ago when there was absolutely nothing in my country. I moved for a while in the UK and got my first trainings at the FWA Academy and at Dropkixx Academy. I then learned a lot from Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli, and recently I got the amazing opportunity to train with Marty Jones and Johnny Saint at the Squared Circle Academy in Manchester. You guys in England are amazingly lucky to have such great trainers in your country. For italian people is extremely difficult to get in this business as our scene is pretty new and when I started there wasn’t any wrestlers at all over there.

4. You are I would say a major part of the Italian scene, what do you think of the current state of it and do you think certain promotions such as EPW who bring over TNA stars are gaining it more exposure it needs??

The Italian Wrestling scene started very late, just 15 years ago, but it’s growing pretty fast. The ICW, Italian Championship Wrestling, is by far the top promotion in my country, running many shows every year with pretty good crowds and very good workers trying to learn the craft the hard way. EPW is a pretty new company but they run amazing shows with talents from all over the world, so it certainly helps our country to shine more all over the world. Also a company named ASCA is starting to do pretty interesting shows with many English names on their cards.

5. Speaking of EPW, you have wrestled for them 3 times overall including against Austin Aries now in WWE, TNA star Eddie Edwards and ex- WWE and TNA star MVP, how was this experience for you and do you want more chances like this to prove yourself even further against top talent this year ??

The EPW Management truly believed in me so I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity they gave me. Has been an amazing experience sharing the squared circle with such Superstars and I absolutely want more and more matches like that to improve and learn from those great workers.

6. You were previously the ICW Italian champion for a reign of 322 days before losing it to OGM late last year, how did it feel to lose a title you had held for so long and is one of your main goals this year to win it back and if so do you have any words for Charlie Kid the current champion??

It was my 5th and more important reign as Italian Champion, so it was pretty sad losing it as I was very close to set a new title defence record. But I’ll definitely want it back, I already know Charlie Kid pretty well in the ring, so as soon as the ICW management will give me the opportunity that I deserve I know I’ll take the gold back to my waist.

7. Of course the name of the blog is TheBritishWrestlingRevival, you have previously wrestled for a touring promotion over here in All Star, how did it come about, how was this experience and do you want to return either this year or the next if given the opportunity to do so??

During a seminar in Italy, Marty Jones helped me so much and gave me this opportunity to do an amazing learning experience working for All Star during last year summer. Like Sam Adonis said, ASW truly is the last territory, with some of the very best talents in the world and I was so lucky to be part of it. The greatest thing is that I’ll be back very soon and I can’t wait to have another opportunity to be part of one of the greatest teams in the world. I can’t thank Marty Jones enough for helping me so to get there, as well as Brian Dixon and all those guys for the opportunities.

8. What are your future ambitions in Wrestling and where do you see yourself in 5 years time??

My very first ambition is to always have fun and never stop learning. I want to improve as much as I can, work more in the UK and all over the world. I truly believe hardwork pays off, some bigger opportunities would hopefully comes out.
I also want to develop my new in-ring persona as Fabio Ferrari, a rich and arrogant descendant of the well known Ferrari family.
