Memento Vivere

Bloganuary Day 15: Are we there yet?

What is a life lesson you feel everyone can benefit from learning?

Well, this is going to be a short one.

I find the presumption of arrogance implicit in today’s prompt to be quite breathtaking.

Who am I – or anybody else, for that matter – to presume to set myself up as a snake oil salesman life or wellness coach and dictate what is ‘good’ for everybody, or anybody, else? As if I have some special insight. Grrr.

So I will just leave you for today with one thought that I find helpful for me in how I live my life. Cut through all the pieties and socially imposed taboos and remember (and accept) that every one of us is going to die at some point. That is a simple fact, so perhaps it’s not a bad idea to live your life as you want to (within the bounds of civilised society) while you still have the chance.

Memento vivere: remember that you have to live.

(Note to WordPress: must try harder)
