Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the seven wonders of the world, considered a UNESCO heritage site. It's an ancient series of walls approximately 21.196 kilometers long (16 times Italy), 4,5 to 9 meters wide and 8,5 meters high.

The construction of the original wall was started over two thousand years ago by Qin Shi Huangdi. The work was built by workers, slaves, rebels and farmers.

After the emperor conquered territories, he also unifed the walls in a single barrier, to defend the territory of the empire from the attacks of nomadic people.

The begginning of the construction of the Great Wall dates back to 215 B. C. even if the various walls already existed because the kingdoms had built them.
