The Superb Parrot in an uncommon inhabitant of woodland and farming country to the west of the the Great Dividing Range from northern Victoria to the far south of central Queensland. Within this range it tends to move south to breed in spring and summer and goes towards the north of its range to overwinter. Canberra is the only large city within its range and the bird has become more of a feature around the place in the last 10-15 years. Here we see a female dealing with noisy young ones begging for food, filmed on the edge of Mulligan's Flat Nature Reserve mulligansflat.org.au/ and in the adjoining suburb of Forde, in northern Canberra. Meanwhile the yellow and orange-throated male goes about its business looking for lerps among the leaves of a nearby tree.
