7 Opponents John Cena Must Face Before WWE Retirement WWE, AEW

Following John Cena’s devastating loss to Solo Sikoa at WWE Crown Jewel 2023, the end of the road for the 16-time world champion seems closer than ever.

However, despite Cena heavily suggesting on Instagram that the time for retirement is now, many do expect this to be little more than a tease for his next run as well as an effective way to write him off TV for his return to Hollywood.

While a Cena return is expected, fans should also brace themselves that his next run could in fact be the last.

Bafflingly despite Cena ticking off near-enough every box from his WWE bucket list, we still have a few final requests – namely opponents that we’d love to see Cena grapple with before he calls it a day.

So, with that said, lets take a look at seven opponents John Cena absolutely has to face off against before he retires.

7. LA Knight

Aside from Solo Sikoa, the biggest benefactor of John Cena’s most recent WWE run was undoubtedly the Mega Star LA Knight.

Serving as a nice cherry on top of what has been quite a remarkable 2023 cake, Knight received the endorsement of the ‘Greatest of All-Time,’ teaming together for a marquee match at Fastlane 2023 to take on Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso.

Not only that but Knight was of course Cena’s handpicked choice to take on Roman Reigns in the main event of WWE Crown Jewel, undoubtedly the 40-year-old’s biggest match of his career to date.

While winning that was unfortunately never a plausible outcome, the only match aside from a rematch with Roman that could potentially top it would be a match with Cena himself.

Beating Cena would be a fitting way to rubber-stamp Knight’s push, while also providing some potentially incredible promo exchanges to boot.
