Enemy Zero might not be everybody's cup 'O' tea but not everybody liked The Beatles, but did that make them less awesome? I think not! EZ for the Sega Saturn is a stealth-survival-horror game and sequel to 'D', both starring the character Laura ( not Laura Croft ) voiced by the singer Jill Cunniff of the band Luscious Jackson. I did a review of 'D' already so I won't talk much on that game. ( It's very creepy ) You play Laura Lewis, who after being wakened from her cryogenic slumber by an explosion on the the massive AKI space craft she's a crew member of, must find who or what's attacking them. ( whew, that's a mouthful! ) Enemy Zero's game-play goes between interactive FMV ( point & click ) and a first person shooter. The unique thing about EZ is the enemy's invisible! ( oooooh ) In this game stealth is your friend, and avoiding the invisible monster is the best way to survive. Again, not everybody's cup of tea, but it makes for a creepy good time. Your weapon is an electro-charger gun that takes a few seconds to charge up, and you have a earring shaped guidance system witch gives her aural warnings. You walk the corridor's searching for surviving crew members, fighting invisible monster's, solving many puzzles, and ultimately escaping the AKI. ( the big ship, pay attention! ) This game was also in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive and exclusive video game ever. It cost over 20,000 yen ( $2,500 ) to have one of twenty hand delivered by Kenji Eno himself! ( wow ) There was also a very popular soundtrack performed by Michael Nyman & Sara Leonard. But you ask, " what does this all mean? " Well I'll tell you young Skywalker, it means if you're going to play a creepy survival game, the music better be damned great or it will fall flat on it's face. EZ is one of the best ( in my books ) survival type games out there. It's truly an original and very scary game! The first time I played it, and I heard the monster coming towards me I almost totally lost it. I was walking around one of the storage area's and I heard that ...beep.......beep.......beep... coming at me faster and faster; I was running into walls and blocked corridors, then I died, and the beast's scream you won't soon forget. I forgot you have to charge up your gun first, and if you charge it up to soon it shuts off, thus death happens! ( get used to it! ) The graphics are great for the day, and it moves along quite nicely. The voice acting is cheesy as can be, but I love cheesy voice acting. And yes, it does at times move very slow, but any good survival game should. The critics of the day poo-pooed it, but I normally like what the powers that be hate. Enemy Zero for the Sega Saturn is a first rate game that should be enjoyed with the headphones on, and in the dark. This great sleeper game must be in any complete Saturn collection! " Happy Surviving! "

Enemy Zero is fun, scary, and interesting. A game unlike any other today. I highly recommend this game for saturn owners.

This game is a true classic, and it tells a great story that gets you invested in the game. You play as Laura (not the Laura in D, which this game is a spiritual sequel to), after an alien species gets onto her space vessel and she is awoken from hyper sleep to check it out (a la Alien). The problem is, the Aliens are invisible, and your only way to know where they are is through auditory tracking (a good idea to use a Stereo TV with Stereo RCA plugs and Jacks with this game) with a piano chime. The piano chime has pretty good distance so alot of the time, you can use the chime to get around enemies. Your gun (till the end) has a very limited range, and a limited amount of Ammo, and has to be recharged, which is a pain. You also have a limited amount of times you can save depending on the difficulty level with 64 power on Normal, and 99 on Easy, and 99 on beginner but uses less power to save and load, this aspect balances out the games difficulty (no shame in playing on beginner with this one).

This game plays partially like D with the invisible rails and intersections, but for the most part, its a FPS...with invisible enemies....that kill you in one hit....and if you die too many times and deplete your save device...you are screwed. So if you want a challenge and a good story, go for it.

the game is incredibly long......no really its like four discs long....it had great graphics for its time and certainly guarantees to scare you while playing it. your trapped on a space ship and your whole crew is being killed off one by one by an unknown alien. the only issue with the game is that you may become frustrated while in combat....you have one gun that can kill the enemy....the only issue is they're invisible so you have to shoot when you hear them howling at you and shoot them quick because youll die in one hit.....it takes some getting used to but the game can pull you in and before you know it youll be spending hours at a time playing....be sure to save frequently and listen to the radar thingy....
