I missed my games when I switched over to Mac, this has helped a lot. I was a huge fan of the original Age of Empires, and I owned all of them for PC. This was one of my favorites by far so i got this one for my Mac system. It's just as you remember playing it on PC and will bring you hours of entertainment. ENJOY!

I love the game. My brother had it for the PC and we played it all the time. So much fun! Even better if you have the Titan expansion (only PC I believe).

So much Fun I thought I should get it for my MacBook while I was away at school. The first day I had it it crashed on me time after time within 20 minutes of start up. Since then I have figured out how to play the game without it crashing much. I play simple games like 1 vs 1 or 1 vs 2 instead of the 8-10 player games that I would play on the early XP based PC.

My advise is to get the game for your PC if you have both available. If Mac is all you have, it is still a solid game. I play it on a regular basis on the Mac because I despise Windows. At the end of the day, however, Windows will play a computer game much better, the rest however, is dominated by the Mac.

I have a Mac and my wife has a PC. We like to play games together. AOM is one of her favorite PC games, so I bought the Mac version so we could play together. Found several problems with this. The first one is that Mac and PC versions can't be played on the same server. This may be an inherent problem with the programming or it could be because the PC version is several updates ahead of the Mac version. Second, there's been little effort to "Mac" the PC game. For example, the manual and pop-up help instruct you to "right click" in order to do a lot of things, which are actually done by "control" clicking. I've played the PC version of the game as well; even though I'm playing on a high spec machine with my Mac, the game has a sluggish, unresponsive feel on my computer. AOM is a great game, but it feels like MacSoft didn't spend as much time on this one as they should have.

I've played Age of Mythology before on a pc, and it was one of the best games I've ever play; including the Titan's Expansion. However, I recently retired my pc and bought a Mac instead, and thus was forced to shell out the exorbitant cost for the game compatible for the Mac. I can't say I'm real technically savvy, so this is mostly my fault, but the game is not compatible with my computer, which is a MacBook Pro that I bought January of this year. When I tried to install this product, a notice reporting that PowerPc applications are no longer supported, and after looking through Apple Support forums, I gather that this occurred six years ago.. So, I caution all buyers to double check and make sure that the two are compatible before shelling out the big bucks. I also must note that while the game itself is not compatible, the disc itself is in good condition (One light scratch on the disc that can be easily overlooked) and the manual that came with the game was in pristine condition.

I picked this game up cheap and have been playing it on my dual 1.8 G5. It's a fun game, very similar to Warcraft III but it has major crash issues with dual processor machines. There is nothing worse then playing a strategy game for 2 hours to have it crash on you and lose everything. And the sad part is it crashes more then not. Macsoft support is nil, in-fact there is a patch for this game and all three locations linked on the Macsoft webpage to down load the patch are dead. Even for 15 bucks I would have to pass on this game, not worth the crashing and lost time. I am very disappointed they do not put some effort into porting there games to OSX.

I'm a 21yr old university student. I used to love playing this game on my old PC. I've been itching to play it since and it's been 10 years.

The experience is far better than I originally remember, this is mostly due to the improved performance of new technology. I'd highly recommend playing this with a simple external mouse rather than Apple's trackpad/magic mouse because of how dated the game is. I've got fantastic use out of the game and it is definitely worth the price tag.

It has not crashed or had any negative results.

Delivery wise:
Estimated as a month, but it was closer to five working days (this was over xmas, and therefore doubly impressive).
Good packaging.

Overall:
I thought it was expensive (when compared to the price of the PC game, but you need to consider the game has been made accessible for Apple computers and was only intended for Windows).

6 month update:
I have played this game a hell of a lot. It's a nice contrast to the fast-paced online multiplayer games. I'd highly recommend the game, even with its price tag. The gameplay is smooth and offers a fantastic experience.

The game is absorbing over a long period, so it clearly plays well. If you're attracted by the description then the reality lives up to it.
My 12 year old son bought this with his own money because he enjoyed it so much at a friends.
The friend and his neighbour have been playing it (PC version) regularly for the last 9 months, my son would play it for hours every night if I let him (I don't.) My husband also enjoys it. I would like my family back, but must admit that it appears to be mentally quite challenging and far superior to many other computer games said son has played. The graphics also look pretty good - which I gather is important.
