Sono ormai molti anni che percorro in lungo e in largo l'arco alpino Dolomitico, e fin dai tempi in cui frequentavo la scuola del C.A.I. (acronimo di Club Alpino Italiano) ho visto sempre usare dai miei maestri queste carte. In questi ambienti, la montagna intendo, dove l'uomo si mette a nudo e si manifesta per quello che è, senza troppi orpelli, l'essenzialità e la tradizione sono ancora dei valori intramontabili che è opportuno seguire.
A dispetto di altri strumenti tecnologici, che per ragioni diverse potrebbero presentare dei limiti ancor più invalidanti, queste carte topografiche della Tabacco, essenziali quanto efficaci nelle loro informazioni, sono uno strumento di viaggio imprescindibile per un alpinista che intenda muoversi in sicurezza anche se si tratta di ambientazioni fortemente ammaestrate dagli enti turistici dei luoghi di appartenenza.
L'unico neo, ma non se ne viene fuori, è la relativa fragilità che esse manifestano. Trattandosi di uno strumento cartaceo, con la manipolazione cui sono soggette, se non si è accorti, in breve tempo si riducono a degli straccetti inservibili. Per tale ragione, in passato, sono ricorso a un prodotto della concorrenza della Kompass per la precisione, realizzato con un materiale più robusto, oleoso ed impermeabile; usandolo però si è rivelato anche molto più scomodo ed ingombrante.
Per sopperire a questo incomodo e far durare nel tempo queste carte, io, come altri hanno proposto, vi suggerisco di fare delle fotocopie della porzione di territorio che intendete visitare, o munirvi di una comunissima busta portadocumenti trasparente, impermeabile, di pochi cent, reperibile nel vasto assortimento Amazon.
Addirittura, senza spostarmi di casa a far fotocopie, io mi traccio uno schizzo su un pezzo di carta, con i passaggi salienti del tour che intendo effettuare, me lo infilo in tasca, la mappa ripiegata nello zaino da consultare in caso di necessità. Silver.

Hat bei unseren Touren durch die Brenta immer gepaßt. Die Wegnumerierungen haben immer gestimmt, die gegangenen Wege waren aktuell und auf der Karte.

Ich finde die Tabacco-Karten generell etwas angenehmer anzuschauen als die AV-Karten. Zur Wegfindung sind sie aber sicher gleichwertig. Kaufentscheidend war zwei mal die Tatsache, daß sie neuer waren, als die AV-Version.
