While it pales in comparison to its 3-D counterpart on the PlayStation, the developers of this 2-D Game Boy version of the hit game Driver have managed to re-create much of the action and excitement that made the original game a sleeper hit. Slip into the role of a getaway driver and race through a crowded city environment in this fast-action racer.

As with the PlayStation version, you still drive a getaway car through busy city streets, only in this game you view the action from a top-down perspective and the graphics have taken a nosedive in quality (for obvious reasons). Weaving through traffic and screeching around corners is as fun as it ever was, regardless of the low-detail levels. I first played driver for playstation at a friends house, and I enjoyed it a lot, so i took a chance and bought it for game boy. I'm so glad i did! It is every bit as fun as the playstation version. The police react realisticly. There are also 3 city modes with very recognizable differences. The cities are huge, with tons of different streets to drive on. There are also a lot of fun modes in the game. The main campaign mode, the get away mode (see how fast you can burn a cop), pursuit (chase down a car and knock it off the road), Survival (see how long you can last against tons of cops at once), and the free drive mode (drive freely throughout any of the cities), which makes the game fun to play over and over. There is also tons of stuff to knock over including cones, road block signs, and road signs to add to your fun. This is truly one of the funnest games for game boy color, and if you enjoy games such as Driver for playstation and computer, and Grand Theft Auto, you will love this game a lot!

This game is for anyone who liked the PS version of the game. The tight controls let you speed through the city streets with ease. This is a great racing game for anyone who is looking for a break from the fairly boring pace of games like Nascar, in which all you do is laps.
Good PS to GBC transfer, sounds are pretty good, graphics could be better, but an overall good buy.

I bought this for my 6 yr old who masters games. He has ps1, ps2 ,game boy color and game boy advanced. He hates this game. Its hard to control, it came with out instructions ( which I knew buying it used) but I figured how hard could a driving game be? Its hard- dont buy this for your small child ( under 8) because Im an adult and I couldnt get it to drive straight or do what I wanted it to either.
