Amazing Game

Amazing Game
The following is an excerpt from my review on [...]. Check it out here: [...]When you first fire up Goldeneye: Reloaded, you'll notice that this isn't your N64 classic. The graphics have been updated to modern standards, the story has been tweaked, and Brosnan has been replaced with Daniel Craig. These changes make for an experience that is distinctly different from the classic and yet still has a ring of familiarity about it. It's this combination of the new and the nostalgic that make this remake such an amazing game. The gameplay of Reloaded has a lot in common with modern shooters, many of which were in turn born from the original Goldeneye. Still, it retains a much the same feel as the original. A quick headshot from the P99 is still the easiest way to dispatch many enemies. Stealth plays a large part in navigating the levels-almost every environment gives you the option to sneak through the level with headshots and silent takedowns. If you alert an enemy, an indicator shows up (much like a damage indicator) and you've got a few seconds to dispatch him before he can sound the alarm. If you do alert the enemies, you'll find yourself in an all-out firefight pretty quickly. In addition to the main campaign, there are special side-challenges known as M16 Ops, which add a lot of time to the game. The missions have a generic objective to them, such as take out all enemies or defend a point for a set amount of time, and you're graded on how well you complete them. Modifiers can be added to make the challenge harder or easier, and you'll get more points for completing it on a harder difficulty. You can even share a customized challenge with your friends and compete for top spot. The controls are fairly standard for a modern shooter; Call of Duty fans will feel right at home. Bond's ability to sprint and vault over obstacles makes moving through the environments feel effortless. Clicking the right stick in executes a melee attack, which is great for silently taking down enemies or finishing off the last enemy instead of reloading. One nice touch that has been added is the ability to pop out from cover to fire. when crouched behind an object, holding the aim trigger pops your head over the obstacle to take out enemies. Releasing the trigger has you crouch back down. The system makes it easy to pop in and out of cover and helps keep the action flowing more smoothly-it's a mechanic that more shooters should incorporate.

I only recently purchased an Xbox 360, and this game was the first I bought after renting it a few times from RedBox. It's a blast to play.

In order to achieve maximum success, especially on the more difficult missions, you have to be smart about achieving objectives and eliminating enemies. Many scenarios in the game require you to be stealthy; blasting your way through is not always an option. Shooting explosive objects, such as fuel tanks on vehicles (which are usually shown in red) is often the most expeditious way to deal with enemies. As a novice gamer, I am quite satisfied with the length of the game, although I have read other reviews complaining that the game was too short and too easy to "win".

If you like a game that requires you to be smart and stealthy, and not just strictly a "run and gun" format, Goldeneye reloaded is for you!

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about this game simply because it seemed to be but a simple port from the Wii to the PS3 and Xbox 360. For some, that may still be the case. However, GoldenEye Reloaded is undeniably the best Bond game that Activision has produced. Activision's previous installments to the Bond franchise (Quantum of Solace and Blood Stone) weren't deserving of the James Bond title, simply because they were just Call of Duty games with an espionage spy theme. GoldenEye Reloaded shares similarities to the Call of Duty games, (game engine, some aspects of gameplay, and multiplayer) but there's more of a Bond sensation than the previous games.

While most believe that GoldenEye Reloaded is a remake of the classic Nintendo 64 video game, GoldenEye 007, it is not. Instead, GoldenEye Reloaded aims to be a reimagining of the classic gaming success, featuring Daniel Craig, the current portrayal of 007, and modernized locations, weapons, and the overall feel. From the start of the game in the Arkhangelsk dam, to the classic Archives and tank chase, to the Nigerian jungles (previously Cuba), the game is more reminiscent of the original game than it's Nintendo Wii counterpart.

You would be foolish to judge the game without playing it for yourself, especially considering the biased and often times inaccurate reviews from angry gamers and Call of Duty fanboys. The graphics are nothing shy of excellent, especially from Activision. If you're expecting graphics similar to Uncharted or Heavy Rain, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. However, take it with a grain of salt and it's guaranteed you will appreciate the beauty of the visuals if you avoid comparing it to more advanced gaming experiences.

The gameplay is very reminiscent of the Call of Duty games, mainly because of the modernized methods of first-person shooters; the ability to aim down the sights of your guns, customize your loadout in multiplayer, the points and ranking system, and even the style of the single player campaign very much give weight to the fact that Activision just doesn't wish to stray from the style of Call of Duty when making games of the same genre. It doesn't say much positive things for the company, considering that James Bond has never been a Call of Duty style gaming experience, and thus shouldn't be treated as so, even in this day and age. However, this does not take away from the overall enjoyment that GoldenEye Reloaded will bring.

I very much appreciate the game for what it is, and as a casual gamer, I find it a fantastic experience. As a James Bond fan, I'm mildly disappointed that Activision couldn't appoint it the proper respect it deserves and stray from the Call of Duty style. I say give the game a go for yourself before judging it. Whether you're a casual gamer or a James Bond fan, GoldenEye Reloaded is an experience not to be missed.

Though some parts of the game seem repetitive, I'm not going to judge a game by that. That's every FPS. That's unfair. So, anyways, I gave it this rating seeing as it follows a majority of both Rare's game for the N64 and Eon's movie, and so I gave it three stars. I gave it the other two stars because this is the first game I've bought used that didn't have a single scratch on it! The case was not dented at all, and the game starting booklet was also included. I loved this product! I've used this product for about 3 months, and it was awesome!

We have 2 young boys (12 and 9 years old). We won't allow them to own games rated Mature, so they bemoan not being able to play Call of Duty and similar first person shooters. They played Goldeneye at a friend's house and said this was the next best thing. That has been the case. At the same time, we don't have to worry about the game being too graphic or explicit. The gameplay options for multiplayer split-screen "competitions" makes for fun tournaments between me and my boys. I have to say this has been one of the best XBox 360 game purchases we've made. Actually, THE best.

After a couple of weeks of excitement waiting for my game, k popped it into my xbox and started playing. To my surprise, the game gave me a discount error at the end of the first mission. It managed to auto save. I went back and played the second level and same thing happened in the end. It then wouldn't play passed 5 seconds into the 3rd mission.
These games are repaired. I noticed that when I looked at the back of the disc. Be very ware of this. Either buy it new or font buy from this seller.

Now I have to pay for shipping and get a refund. What a waste of time and money.

It's no N64 version, but that's beside the point. If you're going to buy the Reloaded version of this game just avoid the Wii version (which I also own) if you can. I took a lot of time and researched both the PS3, and XBox 360 versions and although the difference between these two versions is minimal the XBox 360 version came out on top (slightly better graphics). The game is fun and it makes you wish it stuck closer to the original version, but the nice clean graphics definitely make up for the 'changes' to the story. If you have an XBox 360 you can download a demo which definitely helps when making a decision, if you don't have an XBox 360, then the choice is clear.
