It’s an action-adventure in the truest sense of the word, immersing players in cinematic combat levels, as well as a story-based detective investigation. Use Chrys’ unique insect abilities, a range of creative bug weaponry, and old-fashioned street smarts to solve the case and uncover a shocking secret, ultimately bringing the mighty boot of justice down hard on the city's infestation of crime.

This isn't your typical 3D adventure/shooter game; as protagonist Detective Chrys Liszt, you have to take out various mutant insects, hominids, Robobugs, and other buggy monstrosities. With the help of fellow sidekick Roachy Caruthers, you have to get to the bottom of a murder that was committed at the Nectarola Soft Drink Company. As you progress, the story will only get deeper as Chrys not only learns more about her own past, but will also encounter betrayal and deception. Things just aren't what they seem. :)

Now for the critiques: in Action Mode, the dark graphics can make it rather frustrating to locate your enemies. Furthermore, the choppy play control tends to get Chrys easily killed (although she DOES get infinite lives). In contrast, some of the weapons are very cool to use, such as the Nectar Blaster and Amberizer. In Detective Mode, it takes A LOT of skill and patience to discover all of the clues just to pass that particular level. Lastly, some of the cut scenes feel a bit graphic; perhaps the game should have been "Teen" rated. However, I WILL give the writers/producers some points for an original, inventive storyline. So if you are looking for an unconventional sort of game, it wouldn't hurt to try Insecticide. :)

I was really enjoying this game and was playing along when I got to a part where I had to find items. I found all but one, but I could not find it at all. The game would not let me move on until I found the item, so I tried several times with no success. And then I quit playing it.

Recently I traded the game in at Gamestop.

I cannot recommend this game to anyone. I couldn't give it one star because I didn't hate it, but I thought about it.

I downloaded the PC version of this game and found it to work on only one of six computers I own. Apparently, the vendor needs to be more specific about the system requirements. I do not recommend purchase of the PC version of this game unless you can get the vendor to agree to take the game back (and to refund ALL costs of purchase) if the game does not work on your PC!

A decent game fun little adventure game. I just bought a few new adventure games for my DS and I really looked forward to this one. This adventure game, however is not a favorite of reviewers - for good reason. The game is a hybrid adventure game and platform game in one, and the graphics are quite plain in the platform section. A great game this is not.

While this game has its flaws, the adventure portions are quite good and engaging. The look is similar to a Japanese phone game and plays like one too. For me, the adventure portions are simple and alot of fun so if you want a fun little game for on the go entertainment here you are. Flawed but easy to play on the go. Just put up with the platform portions of the game.

Insecticide is kind of a subspecie, part action/platformer part point and click adventure. Sounds good? Well, read on.

You start off in a dystopic future where insects have become the dominant species. You're officer Chrys Lyst, a young female... well, whatever you are, with your grisled detective partner, Roachy. He serves as narration and provides most of the old cheesy detective movie dialogue, which I have to say actually grows on you and is quite charming. The story involves the murder of an insect and conspiracies that I won't spoil for you. If you've ever watched a buddy cop movie with a serious plot then this will be pretty similar, only with bug-puns.

The point and click segments are superbly done and handle well on the DS. However, the action sequences might be a bit too mishandled for gaming veterans. Chrys moves a bit like an SUV with a cork gun, turns horribly and always shoots too slow. The thing is that if you aren't used to fast paced action games this won't be a hindrance. Adjusting to the system took me maybe a half hour of game time tops. Also I should mention that the game's color tones are very dark and if possible it should be played on a DS lite which has a brighter screen then original DS.

Parents might want to try this one out first if they aren't comfortable with the themes. I am pretty sure that everything sounds worse on the box and in my review then it really is in the game (After all it's rated E10) but each kid is different and that should always be considered. I'd say early teens and up especially those that enjoy the Pheonix wright series or CSI games would love this, as well as adult fans of LucasArts previous P&C adventures. By the way if you find this entrancing I'd also recommend Beyond Good and Evil, another action adventure with similar style and a great heroine.

Final verdict is a thumbs up, it's a great game with a good mix of story and gameply elements, and I think people will really enjoy that.
