Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Legend continues on Nintendo GameCube in an all-new epic adventure for one to four players. Fusing cooperative and competitive action, Four Swords Adventures features a unique gameplay system that incorporates both the television and the Game Boy Advance.

When you enter a building or dive into a cave, your character switches from the TV to the Game Boy Advance. When you emerge, the frantic action shifts back to the big screen. To thwart Vaati's nefarious forces, you'll have to master new skills and techniques never before seen in the Legend of Zelda series.

Features

  • Up to four players can link their GBAs to the Nintendo GameCube to join a fun and frantic competition for Force Gems and special items while cooperating to move massive blocks, trigger switches, and slay mighty bosses.
  • Explore eight massive worlds in the Hyrulean Adventure mode, or fight your friends in Shadow Battle mode until only one Link remains!
  • A rich single-player mode allows you to assume control of all four Links and command their every move by seamlessly switching among battle formations.
  • A high-resolution, top-down play perspective features dazzling visual effects like vivid colored lighting, silky-smooth water ripples, swirling smoke and stylized weather effects. Long ago, a valiant hero defeated an evil wind demon known as Vaati and imprisoned him with a magical seal. Over the ages, the seal weakened. Now, Vaati has escaped and abducted Princess Zelda and the six Shrine Maidens. To thwart Vaati's vile forces, legendary hero Link turns to the mystical power of the Four Sword to split himself into four colored copies of himself. The four Links embark on a quest to collect Force Gems and save Princess Zelda. Their journey will take them through enemy-infested lands and puzzle-plagued dungeons.

Four Swords Adventures seamlessly fuses many elements from past Zelda games into an all-new adventure. Zelda veterans will recognize items, characters and enemies from Zelda classics like Link's Awakening, A Link to the Past, The Wind Waker and more. This game really is a dream come true for any Zelda fan!

3 Star single player BUT 5 star multiplayer, Either way your gonna have a fun time. This game is so unique for a Legend of Zelda title I'm kinda disappointed they haven't yet done another. It's a totally memorable experience as a multiplayer game and a great example of why couch-based multiplayer is awesome and should come back to the mainstream.

The puzzles are unique for this zelda title as they require multiple people to complete. They are challenging but once you figure them out they don't take too long to get in the right place and execute (Which is nice when controlling 4 separate links or with a large group of friends). Bosses are fun and can also pose a challenge. At times the game will throw a normally outrageous numbers of enemies at you that you'll need to get in the correct formation or stick together as a group. They also like rooms filled to the brim with destructibles or force gems (collectibles) which is great for multiplayer as you compete over them. (not quite as fun in single player). The switching between the TV screen and Gameboy Advanced is flawless and don't realize it after the first or second swap. The graphics are great, they're a mix of windwaker and link to the past and create a good fun atmosphere that hits my retro/nostalgia button. The controls are another great thing about this game. Even when controlling all four links they make it easy to switch between four formations or split links off separately and re-unite them. I have gone through this game in both single player and multiplayer with 1, 2 and 4 people playing and they are have smooth controls and are easy to manage.

I recommend that if you are buying this game for multiplayer and are spending the money on the 4 GBAs that you to also grab two other great GBA to GC games. "Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles" and "Pac-man Vs". These are both simular couch-based party games that are each great individually. With all three it makes the expense of this set-up totally worth it.

It's a Zelda game, so we all know it's going to be fun, have great dungeons, powerful enemies and a princess to save. Four Swords lives up to the Zelda reputation. Though it is definitely the most unique Zelda game I've ever played. Playing the game with four Links is strange at first, but once you get good at using them all, it's really fun. And the way you use them paves the way for types of dungeons and puzzles never seen before in Zelda.

There are a few cons, however. While I'm fine with having actual levels to beat, like in Mario or Donkey Kong, I don't like that you lose all your progress and items when you start a new level. Every level you start, even if you're replaying a level, you have to start from square one. One thing you can hold onto, is Force Fairies. One Force Fairy revives the four Links if you die. But they are quite plentiful, so it almost makes the game too easy, combat-wise. By the end of the game I had about 86 of them.

While it has it's drawbacks, no Zelda game is not worth playing. Definitely worth your time.

This was the best gamecube game ever made, and is still one of the best for the Wii. Also was the only game that really works well with the gameboy connect (you can get a special cable that turns a gameboy into a controller with a screen, and that plugs into a gamecube or a Wii (original model, not the newer Wii that dropped gamecube compatibility).

The disk was in great shape but this was sold as game and case with no manual. The case art is a mediocre reproduction. This should have been sold as disc only.
