The keyboard has a very long battery life, but after a year, some of my keys require hitting them very hard or they won't register. It's fairly frustrating, and I have to dock this review one star, since I can't just return the keyboard for a new one.
So, it appears long term durability may be an issue with the switches.
Also, my wrist guard broke because the connection is very flimsy, so it's annoying to deal with every time I need to move my keyboard. ALWAYS disconnect the wrist guard when moving the keyboard, especially if you put it into a laptop bag... I broke my own rule for this and broke the connectors.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
One Week of Use:
I was hesitant to buy this because of the few reviews, but I need to write this to assure you that this keyboard is high quality and the build feels great. The keys are a very tiny bit cheap feeling at first, but honestly, as I use this I don't notice it anymore. Also, you could buy your own keys and replace them all if you so choose. Keyboard comes with a key puller.
I have grown to like the futuristic looking keys, and the addition of a number pad was a huge factor in my decision. This keyboard is about a centimeter less wide than my Rosewill gaming keyboard, and fits perfectly in my 17" laptop bag. It has a switch to turn it off underneath, but also goes to sleep if not used for a bit. It wakes up again just by pressing any key, and - importantly - that key IS registered, so you can just resume typing and it will be like nothing happened.
The base of the keyboard is metal, which feels great. It's cool to the touch, and the metallic sparkles are very pleasing.
The wrist rest is a nice even slope, which is comfortable for me. You can remove it. It's a little awkward to handle because the rest isn't firmly attached and can swing into the wrong position. I feel like the connectors will break off sooner than later, so be careful handling it. I recommend detaching the wrist rest when transporting the keyboard.
Battery life seems great, I have been using it for about a week, and I've plugged it in from time to time, but have never run out of batteries.
Keystrokes are recorded well, I have yet to notice a missed keystroke, as has been reported about Corsair's wireless mechanical keyboard.
The description says "mechanical feeling", but it's literally a mechanical keyboard. I took the keycaps off, and it is definitely using real mechanical switches!
I will warn you, learn the difference between the BLUE switches and the BLACK switches. I bought blue switches on accident, and they were very CLICKY. That is by design. The blue switches make a loud, high-pitched click noise when the key is depressed and actuated. Meaning there will be 3 total sounds for each key press: the initial actuation click, the click of the key hitting the keyboard base, and the sound of the key being released. I was not aware of this, and it was driving me insane. I am a programmer, and many programmers and typists like the blue switches because they require a bit more force, so you can't accidentally type unwanted characters, but I am used to Cherry MX Browns, so I prefer switches with no click.
There are several videos on YouTube that will show you what Otemu blacks and Otemu blues (the switches used in these keyboards) sound like.
Otherwise, the difference between Otemu blacks and my current Cherry MX Brown gaming keyboard is subtle. These feel a bit stiffer, which is actually perfect for typing and programming, for the same reason people sometimes prefer Otemu Blue switches - it prevents typos. For me, the Otemu Blacks are a great middle ground as far as resistance and noise.
You can further dampen the sound with small rubber O rings, (search for Cherry MX O ring - they work for Otemu as well), which will reduce the sound of the key hitting the keyboard. It will not reduce the sound of the key being released, NOR will it reduce the CLICKY sound of the Blue Switches.
Blue = loud, sharp, click; requires more force to type
Black = no click; quieter and smoother button press
Be sure to choose the correct keyboard before ordering! All of these keyboards have blue-only backlighting. However, in the name it will say "Led Backlit Blue Switches" or "Led Backlit Black Switches" - those refer to the switches NOT the lighting.
I bought the original blue-switch keyboard through Amazon's fulfillment and was able to return it with no problems. I ordered this black-switch keyboard, and I legitimately love it. Goes great with my new Easterntimes Tech wireless mouse.
The only thing that could make this better would be somewhere to store the USB dongle and potentially a USB pass-through port, but I'm not even sure that's technologically possible over a wireless connection. I would say, instead, it would be a huge improvement if in the next version they include a mouse with this keyboard, so I'm not taking up two USB slots on my laptop, which only has 3 total slots.
I'm not a keyboard fanatic, nor am I what I would call a 'hardcore gamer', but I've been using computer keyboards since the IBM Model M was in common use, so I've seen and used a lot of different keyboards.
This one has been a pleasant surprise, and I've not regretted buying one.
Things I like about it:
- Backlit (I happen to like the shade of blue it uses)
- Wireless (this was one of the criteria I had when I was shopping for a new keyboard, I have enough stuff on my desk, and reducing the number of cables was a huge plus for me)
- Keycaps are easily removable (helps when cleaning the keyboard)
- Has an on-off switch (this is one of those things that one might never think about but if it's needed...)
- The keyboard is still useable while the USB cable is plugged in for charging. I've run into some wireless devices where one can charge them or use them, but not both at the same time.
- The top plate of the keyboard is metal, making it a stable platform to type on with no flex (unless one goes 'total primate' on it)
- Does not require software do do things like enable or disable the backlight, or change the LED effects.
Things I'm not that fond of:
- The font used on the key caps (personal preference)
- The backlight, while adequate for the keycap design, is done via a single LED at the top of the switch (makes the lighting not the most even, but that would have increased the price)
- The battery indicators are a bit, odd. A flashing LED for a low battery, and one that lights up when charging (with an icon that looks like a full battery) and turns off when the battery is fully charged. Having a single battery light that flashes when low and changes colour when charging/fully would have been more 'intuitive' for the US market in my view.
- The battery itself could have been larger, I think, making it last longer. This may have been a case of diminishing returns as looking at the thickness of the keyboard, there can't be a lot of room inside the case.
- Switches are not socketed, so if one was to go out, soldering would be required to replace it. Again, I can see this being a cost situation.
I know, the list of like to dislikes weighs more on the dislike, but I do like this keyboard. It's not 'The Perfect Keyboard (tm)' to me, but it's good at what it does for the asking price, making it hard to beat. And being that it's held together with screws and not plastic welded or with clips that are not designed to ever open without breaking them, if something goes wrong with a switch or the battery, it's possible with the right knowledge to open it up and fix/enhance the keyboard (coughs in potential larger battery).
All in all, I do not regret buying one of these keyboards. It has worked quite well for me in the time I've had it, and I use it every day for several hours at a time.
