Product Description

You wake up one day, turned into a Pokemon. This land is being ravaged by a natural disaster so you decide to form a rescue team with a partner Pokemon. As a Pokemon, you can interact with many other different Pokemon on various missions while trying to uncover their true purpose and destiny. An engrossing story of adventure, redemption and, most of all, friendship. Numerous Pokemon can become your friends and can be called upon to join your rescue teams. Converses with other Pokemon for the first time using engaging graphics with various Pokemon expressions, accept various missions and try to help Pokemon in trouble. Go into many dungeons and strategically make your way through many floors. The layout of the dungeons is randomly generated, so they present a different challenge every time. Strategy and thinking are the keys to clearing the dungeons and completing the missions. Many rescue missions to conquer even after the main story reaches its climactic conclusion. The game starts off easy and advances in difficulty as it progresses. It will appeal to novice and expert Pokemon fans alike. For the first time, a Pokemon's moves can be linked and used together in one turn. This feature offers the player a strategic choice of attacks and is an entirely new concept in the Pokemon world.

The gameplay I must admit is a bit repetitive after a while, and some of these levels seem to have endless floors, but I really like the dialogue which makes things interesting and is the heart of the game. I WILL finish this game one day. I play it a little at a time now because I'm not engulfed anymore like I was the first 2-3 days.

You start out as 1 of maybe 12 or so Pokemon, depending on how you answers certain questions. The first one I got was Machop, who I sadly hate, so I decided to restart the game and got a Pikachu instead. Although I was aiming for Bulbasaur (my favorite), Pikachu is a lot more pleasing than Machop. You also get to pick your partner.

Anyway, this game is a true dungeon crawler at heart. Just with Pokemon as the heroes. You will see all familiar faces as long as you've played the first few Pokemon games in the main series or watched the 'toons. :) Some of the items are old too like Oran Berries and Pecha Berries. But you will see a lot of new stuff too like these kinds of stones you can throw at enemies and scarves and stuff.

Overall, if you are looking for a dungeon crawler in the vein of Chocobo Dungeon, then this game should be right up your alley, especially if you like Pokemon.

3.5 stars (or a 7/10) for gameplay

I had this game a while back but lost it. I've started playing it a lot lately, and it's definitely a change compared to the main games. To me, it seems like the difficulty ramps up extremely high for the bosses (especially Articuno) but that's probably what I get for not training a lot before taking on tougher dungeons and bosses.

I take care of my games and they have some scuffs on them from years of playing them as well (I have my own copy of this game right when it came out all those years ago) and this one matched some of my own games including my own copy which was actually surprisingly satisfying to see.
