It's new and it works. Slight discoloration on the B button and d-pad but that's ok. The only problem I had was that the screw for the battery was rusted. I tried to unscrew it and would continue to spin without coming out. So I proceeded to lubricate it and still the same result. It wasn't until I opened it up I realized that when I originally attempted to unscrew it I ended up loosening the thread that the screw goes into. I didn't even use a crazy amount of force. If yours is rusted make sure to use wd40 first before attempting to open up the battery because it probably fused with the thread. Anyways I'll keep it just because when the battery dies the vmu still saves and cause a return would be to bothersome. Still going to buy a blue one next week. Not the distributors fault but still disappointed with what happened

This is the green version of the Dreamcast VMU.
I think the color is very nice and goes perfectly with the green (well, semi-green, the normal SEGA brand green controller has the same smoke white underside like the normal controller) controller.
As for the VMU itself, it for the most part for anything other than a memory card is pretty silly, but still very neat.
Sometimes little things will happen on the screen while you're playing games or you can put mini games on it.
Though the mini game are usually crap, you need it to properly raise Chao in the Sonic Adventure series(with CR2032 batteries of course). I actually liked the memory game in Chao Adventure 1 though, :P.

If you're looking for storage, look for quality 4x ones, but if you want the usually Dreamcast memory card with the screen and buttons and have a green controller, this is perfect.

Ordered this to have as a bit of retro nostalgia on my shelf with other goodies from my past and it looks great. I also have a green Dreamcast controller so that if I ever do decide to open it I have the controller to pair it with.

I can't speak for whether or not the batteries inside work because I wasn't really planning to take it out of the box at this time.

When I first saw this on Amazon I was quite surprised. I figure at this stage Sega would have off loaded their design to some third party knock off provider who would have jacked the price up due to it being a "retro" piece in gaming history.

To my surprise I was completely wrong. This is still officially licensed and manufactured by SEGA. The price for the VMUs are fantastic and the selection in colors is awesome.

If you do find some third party making these - forget them. Go straight to the creator and support the SEGA Dreamcast legacy.

Its a memory card from 1998 for the Sega Dreamcast, Need I say more about this?

The only problems that the VMU's have is the battery life (You know if the battery died on the VMU if you plug it in your controller and turn out the console. *Beeeeep*) is short. You have to replace the batteries some time to time. And it only have about 200 blocks, which is fine IF you only have a few games that you want to save your game. Other then that the VMU is a retro classic!
