The game commences in the aftermath of a hostile ground invasion of Earth by ravaging alien forces. Humankind is threatened with near extinction. All large-scale resistance has been swept aside. The purpose of the invasion is unknown, but to the horror of all, the surviving humans begin to hear rumors of aliens reprogramming and adapting captured humans into Cyborg warriors and slaves. Earth's last hope is Lieutenant Vaughan, one of the few remaining resistance fighters. He must battle against Cyborg humans, much more powerful than a man and utterly remorseless in combat.

C-12: Final Resistance is set in the aftermath of a hostile ground invasion of Earth by ravaging alien forces. At first, the purpose of the invasion is unknown, but to the horror of all surviving humans, the objective soon becomes clear: the aliens plan to harvest all non-radioactive carbon from planet Earth (thus the title C-12). Most of the human race has been decimated, and those captured alive are used for "droning," the process by which the aliens reprogram humans into cyborg warriors.
It is up to you, playing as resistance fighter Riley Vaughan, to save the Earth from impending doom. Armed with an imaging unit that has been implanted to replace his left eye, as well as a powerful arsenal of weapons, Vaughan must complete tasks, collect items, and destroy the enemy in order to carry out his missions and uncover the secrets behind the alien invasion. C-12: Final Resistance allows players to explore dynamic, darkly detailed environments that include more than 35 different missions and objectives.

This was a cool find. Love picking up old games that may not have as much going on visually as modern games, but still have more in the way of fun than today's 'walking-simulators'. This game has some cool, unique (for the time anyway) stuff to do in the way of exploration and attack. Each of the 8 or so weapons has an alternate fire, your character has a 'Terminator' or 'RoboCop' style visual scanner to find items, enemies, and access points, and there are environmental weapons to utilize as well making for a bit of variety as to how to go about accomplishing a mission. Anyone who has only started gaming in the last 10 or 15 years doesn't know what they're missing and usually cannot appreciate both how far games have come and what they seem to be lacking these days compared to the SNES and PSX eras. Being able to DO instead of SEE or just WATCH is a major difference that is noticeable to most older gamers, and figuring out how to accomplish a task on your own rather than it happening for you is another fault of modernity in video games. If only we could get these two things to meet (modern graphics & controls and old-school gameplay) we could all be wowed!
C-12: Final Resistance came out towards the last year of the PlayStation's life cycle, and it definitely looks so because the programmers had tons of experience with PlayStation hardware and really crafted a fantastic game that would have been super famous had it come out 5 years earlier.
The game is easy to pick up and play and the story is very well told and easy to follow. The gameplay is familiar to anybody who has played 3D adventure games, and the overall quality and polish is just great. If you like PlayStation games and enjoy the unique charm of polygon characters and pixelated explosions that take you back to 1995, then this game is for you.
And to top it all, the game is FREE. Yes, it's free, and brand new, sealed with the original PlayStation seal, you only pay for the shipping, which is [...]. I'm not kidding. My guess is that people were too busy with the PlayStation 2 and other consoles back in 2002 to give PlayStation games any attention anymore, so there are so many new copies of this game they're just giving them away. My advice is get this game while it's dirt cheap, because there will come a day in which they will be rare and expensive, much like the Nintendo GameCube games are nowadays.
Very glad I bought this game, a great value for a great price: $0!
I played games in my childhood that were memorable, and they weren't good, but you know how looking through the eyes of a child is like. I played this game twice and I knew it was a horrific creation. I was so young. Nothing about this game is nostalgic. I hated this game! I couldn't get past the second level, but honestly everything felt wrong.
