Bulky, powerful, and full featured, the Sony DVP-CX860 DVD player holds up to 301 of your favorite CDs or DVDs in one place, letting you easily switch between Mozart and Moulin Rouge without even leaving the couch. The unit employs Sony's Disc Explorer management system to make order out of the chaos, organizing discs by genre, title, or other method via an onscreen interface. The system even offers separate folders for each family member to make things easier. An added bonus is the disc-flip mechanism, which automatically corrects for CDs and DVDs that were inserted backwards, while also accessing both sides of a two-sided DVD.
The player is compatible with audio CDs, Video CDs, and DVDs, and is also equipped for connection to an A/V receiver with built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoders for rich 5.1-channel surround sound. Other features include Sony's exclusive Digital Cinema Sound modes, which provide customized audio for everything from dialogue-driven films to big-budget action spectacles, along with SmoothScan high-speed forward and reverse and SmoothSlow slow-motion forward and reverse.
The system also offers a 10-bit/27 MHz video digital-to-analog converter for superior signal transfer, along with 24-bit/96 kHz linear PCM audio decoding. To ensure better connectivity, the player includes a component-video output, two S-video outputs, and two A/V outputs, along with two digital outputs (one optical and one coaxial).
What's in the Box DVD player, A/V cord, S-video cord, remote control, two AA batteries, user's manual.

I have purchased at least 4 Sony mega changers over the years---The first one lasted around 5 or 6 years. The others (used) have only been good for 2-3 years. I keep buying them because I haven't found anything else that works with my old stereo speakers and makes my CDs easily accessible. I have around 200 CDs that I don't want to put on my computer, etc. So this has been the simplest solution, and generally they work quite well--the occasional misplaced disc, notwithstanding.
However, unlike all of the other Sony mega changers I've had, this one DOES NOT play my downloaded and burned to disc CDs. These very discs have played very well on the other changers. I will try to re-burn them following all of the suggestions I've found online for the solution. Nevertheless, it is disappointing to have to go through that with success unlikely.
This seems to be a slightly earlier model than the others (?) The unlighted load button on this one is at the bottom rather than light-ready at the top. Maybe the older ones don't play burned CDs.
Doesn't work. Too many things wrong with it. Door doesn't stay open to load CDs, doesn't shuffle, something I really enjoyed with my old sony CD 300 disc player that I had for 15 years that worked great but finally gave out. Very disappointed.
It worked good for a long time playing DVDS but one day they started playing in black and white only, does anyone know why? It's not just one movie it is all movies. Crazy!
