In a world where black and white people are almost always portrayed as enemies, this is a pioneering attempt to show how they actually need to come together in order to overcome the oppressive system that predominantly rich whites have benefited from. It does, however, also show how a small number of blacks have also managed to occupy positions that benefit them and its rulers.
There are some times when the storyline falters, but overall it's an amazingly done roller-coaster of emotional highs and low, and the acting is generally superb. It is really too bad that the powers that be likely influenced its demise. Really wondering how it would have continued at Harper's Ferry.
