JOSEPH PACE, born 1959 in Morbegno, Italy, grew up in Central Africa. Attended literary, legal and social and neuro sciences studies at the Sorbonne University of Paris, Sapienza, IRPS and Roma Tre Universities of Rome. He is the founder in Paris in 1987 of  "filtranisme movement". From 1996 to 2008 Joseph Pace has been Assistant Professor of Sociology of Knowledge and Art, and History of Sociology at the Sapienza University of Rome.

In 2018 and in 2021, his work was the subject of two major exhibition organized in the Pantheon in Rome, Joseph Pace: Sacra Sacrorum, The Saced of the Sacred Things (2018), and Joseph Pace, Ave Crux, Spes Una (2021). 

Recent exhibitions include Joseph Pace: Luxarchaeology at National Museum of Archaeology of Civitavecchia (2022); Il Gioiello nelle Moda e nel'Arte at Boncompagni Ludovisi Decorative Arts Museum (2022); Joseph Pace, Gold, La Révélation des Formes at National Museum of Bardo of Tunis (interrupted in 2021); Joseph Pace: Ave Crux Spes Una at Basilica of Saint Lawrence and Lucina, Holy See (2021); A Expessividade de Joseph Pace na Criaçao das Suas Joias Esculturais at CRC in São Paulo (2020); Joseph Pace: Entre o Informal e a Pop Art at Museu de Arte do Parlamento de Itapevi (2020), Libri d'Artista, L'arte da Leggere, Copertino Castle (2020) and Swabian Castle of Bari of the State Museums of Apulia, Joseph Pace: Sacra Sacrorum, The Saced of the Sacred Things at National Historical Library of Agriculture (2019).

Pace is widely known for his iconic sculptures and his paintings shown at the Museum of Art of the Parliament of São Paulo, Museu Afro Brasil in São Paulo, Florence Biennale, Fondazione Museo Venanzo Crocetti,  Università Cà Foscari of Venice, Diocesan Museum of Amalfi and permanently installed at the Museum Afro Brasil São Paulo, Boncompagni Ludovisi decorative arts Museum, Coleçao de Arte do Conselho de Contabilitade do Estado de São Paulo,Teatro de Jaguariuna, Italian Embassy in Brasilia, Museu de Arte do Parlamento de Itapevi, Circolo Italiano, Palazzo Italia in São Paulo, Diocesan Museum of Amalfi, Museu de Arte do Parlamento de São Paulo, Instituto de Recuperaçao do Patrimonio Historico no Estado de São Paulo.

His work was on view at the International Film Festival of Ostia, Florence Biennale, Universal Exposition of Sevilla.

Joseph Pace has received numerous honors in recognition of his cultural achievements, notably by the University of Loraine, Universität Konstanz, Sapienza University of Rome, Italian Embassy in Brasilia, Italian Institute of Culture in São Paulo, Superintendência do Patrimônio Cultural do Estado de São Paulo, Italian Ministry of Agriciultural Policies, Instituto de Recuperação do Patrimônio Histórico de São Paulo, Holy See, Circolo Italiano di São Paulo, Municipal Theater of Jaguariuna, Italian Sociologists Association.

He is the author of unpublished novels and dramas about the war (Le novelle del pozzo, Raimond n’est pas retourné, Twins).
