LISTEN NOW: Byron Messia on Hot 93.7

He says he "definitely" knew that music was going to be a big part of his life, adding that he has been taking music seriously since he was in the ninth grade. Working with some friends, he recorded his first track, "that hit like a thousand views in a week," he said, "I was so excited."

Joking about the massive difference between his first thousand views to his now millions of views he says, "it feels so good... Sometimes little could be so much to somebody."

The release of his song "Talibans" has caught the attention of Burna Boy, Popcaan, Bobby Shurmda and more and as he's been working with these different artists he says it's an "amazing feeling."

In the past year, the 23-year-old says he learned "talent can only take you so far," and he lives by the saying "manners make a man."
