A Baltimore Circuit Court judge approved the foreclosure sale of Kevin Spacey’s condo overlooking the Inner Harbor in August.

The actor’s last $20,230 monthly mortgage payment was for June 2022, according to court records, and he owed $171,727 and counting in back payments in February on the unit in the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Inner Harbor Baltimore.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Susan H. Anderson said in a court order in August that foreclosure mediation between debt collectors and Clear Toaster LLC, a Spacey-owned company that owns the condo, did not result in an agreement.

Neither debt collectors McCabe, Weisberg & Conway nor Clear Toaster LLC’s defense attorney, Edward U. Lee III, responded to requests for comment.

In 2022, a jury sided with Spacey against sexual abuse allegations in federal court in New York, and documents from Spacey’s defense outline his decade-long ties to Baltimore.

“I consider Maryland my home and personal residence,” Spacey wrote in court records in April 2022.

Spacey first came to Maryland in 2012 to film “House of Cards,” renting and then buying a house in 2014 on 20 acres of riverfront property in Severna Park for $5.5 million, according to court records. He sold it three later for $3.9 million.

Spacey then moved to the 9,000-square foot condo on pier off Key Highway adjacent to Federal Hill.

“I purchased the Baltimore home with my own money, and the title is held in the name of a Maryland LLC of which I am the solo beneficial owner,” Spacey wrote in a court filing in the New York case.

In his 2016 state tax return, Spacey listed the Ritz-Carlton Residences, also known as the Pier Homes at Harborview, as his address. The townhouse cost around $5.6 million, and according to court records, Spacey still owes the bank around $4 million.

Clear Toaster LLC was registered by David Bolno, a partner at an entertainment agency that has represented Spacey in the past. Bolno then signed over the title of the business to Spacey in November 2017.

In the second half of 2017, more than 30 people accused Spacey of sexual misconduct. Spacey also was acquitted of sexual assault charges in a trial in London over the summer.

The Pier Homes at Harborview Council also is seeking money from Clear Toaster, claiming the LLC owes more than $43,000 for unpaid expenses.

When Clear Toaster purchased the property at The Pier Homes at Harborview in 2017, the sale drew speculation that Spacey was living there. His manager Evan Lowenstein denied the rumors, telling the Baltimore Sun that it was his residence — not Spacey’s.

“If people keep saying it’s [Spacey’s] house, I’m going to start asking him to pay the bills,” Lowenstein said.

But in court documents, Spacey said he was paying the bills.

It’s unclear where Spacey will live if a foreclosure sale is held. He acknowledged in court documents that he traveled frequently for work and vacation, but called Maryland his permanent home.

“I always have intended to return — and did return — to Maryland whenever I was away,” Spacey wrote last year.
