The Sila upland cover a total area of about 150,000 hectares with wild forests and vast expanses of rolling plateaus, with exciting landscapes stretching towards Pollino and Aspromonte. The existing Silan lakes are all artificial and were made in the first half of the last century. Its forest area consists mainly of beech and pine forests of the typical Silan pinetree, the Laricio. Its large valleys open along the ridges, places where pastoralism is practiced.
