Lovely metal okimono 置物, coated in a silver hue, shaped like a 5-tiered pagoda, majestically upheld by four mythical Kirin 麒麟. Two of the Kirin gaze at the pagoda, while the other two look over their backs.
Period: Japan – Mid-/Late-Shôwa period (Mid-/Late-20th century).
Dimensions:
Height 47.5 cm, Width and Depth 28 cm..
Weight 4.9 kg.

The Kirin, or Qilin in Chinese, is a mythical creature known in Chinese and other East Asian cultures. Often associated with the arrival or passing of a sage or illustrious ruler, it is considered a symbol of good fortune, prosperity, and serenity. Sometimes likened to the Western unicorn, the Kirin holds a special place in folklore as a harbinger of auspicious events.
