In Tarquinia, an element of exceptional archaeological interest is the vast necropolis, in particular the Monterozzi necropolis.
They enclose a large number of tumulus tombs with chambers carved into the rock, in which an extraordinary series of frescoes is preserved, representing the most conspicuous pictorial nucleus of Etruscan art that has come down to us.
Among the most interesting tombs are the tombs that are called the Warrior, the Hunting and Fishing, the Lionesses, the Wishes, the Jugglers, the Leopards, the Festoons, the Baron, the Ogre and the Shields.
