  • Dragon's Lair (3DO)

This 3DO is really great to play, but it takes some brain work to figure out how to get the animation to flow so that Dirk can save Daphne. Trial and error is the key, and timing is the constant. From that point, it is a matter of figuring out whether to do nothing, move to the left, right, forward, or back, and when to use your sword or grab a rope or a chain. Don Bluth's animation is awesome, and just watching the scenes come to life is rewarding. When Dirk does go the wrong direction or makes a faulty move, the animation is good for a few laughs. Patience is the key!

  • Dragon's Lair (3DO)

This quirky game from long ago still holds magic. Filled with the amazing art of Don Bluth this game is a treat for the eyes. This home version is just like the coin-op game including the peculiar timing issues with movement which takes a bit of getting used to. This is not a game for the easily frustrated nor for anyone not ready for vintage quirks. The odd movement/timing issue was a part of the original due to it using "laser-disk" reading/cue-ing as a first in video-gaming. People used only to current style games will have issue with this as well as with its wonderful off-shoot titles. But those willing to indulge in nostalgia should find an entertaining gem in this game. Enjoy!

  • Awful

Imagine a game with all the interactivity of pressing a button that is absolutely not random. If you have done this, imagine that the game will be the exact same the second time or fiftieth time that you play it. Sound like fun? No? Well that is what you get with Dragon's Lair. This was awful in the arcade and is arcade perfect at home. Avoid unless you like investing money in items that are irritating or you want a neat coaster for your table.
