About this product

Product Information

Released in 1998, the original Grand Theft Auto put players in the role of a criminal where the main objective was simply to become a well-known criminal. This was accomplished by performing tasks for crime bosses, such as carjacking, drug running and killing people. Grand Theft Auto 2 is no different as players are once again placed in the role of a criminal. Set in a city overrun with crime, seven gangs are vying for control of the town. Your objective this time is not just to become a great criminal, but to earn the respect of one or more of the gangs.

Viewed from overhead, users can run around the city and take part in illegal activities whenever they choose thanks to the nonlinear gameplay. Although you can make more money and gain respect by accomplishing jobs for others, there is no need to only stick to those missions. Depending on what gang you are currently working for, you may attempt to start a turf war between two other gangs in order to weaken the both of them. Or an easier way to gain more respect from one gang is to go on a killing spree against that gang's rivals. On screen at all times is a respect-o-meter so that you know how much each gang likes you.

While crime may be overrunning the city, don't expect this to be a walk in the park. The police are still everywhere as they attempt to put as many criminals behind bars by shooting first and asking questions later. Don't be surprised if they receive backup in the form of the military either. To help players combat law enforcement, Grand Theft Auto 2 features a variety of weapons -- more than 13 in all. You can always choose to simply shoot your enemies with a gun but some other options allow you to fry them with a flame-thrower or make their hair stand on end with a tazer. Feel like running someone over? Then carjack one of the more than 30 available vehicles based on cars of the 50s. All of the vehicles vary in speed and control as users can cruise in a speedy sports car or take a fire engine for a spin.

As far as improvements over the original, the game sports a brand new engine. The artificial intelligence has been altered so that missions are more complex and characters react to their surroundings. Player actions can draw the attention of other criminals resulting in more police and cause civilians in the area to panic. When the people panic you can expect things to get crazy as the game engine allows more than 50 vehicles and 200 pedestrians on the screen at one time! During all of the action users will also get to rock to the tunes of Moving Shadow Records, Flytronix and Taxi Driver.

5 Star Seller ***** SUPER Fast Shipping, Packaged Safely in a manilla bubble envelope, Accurate Description, Great Communication.. I would definitely buy from this seller again. Thank You!!! :) This NES 5-screw Golf cart is in excellent condition except for a slight discoloration along the beveled edge below the thin title edge. If not for that I would say this was in mint condition. This is a welcome addition to my collection and thank you for offering this high-quality cart.

Used to play this game back in the day. Was the sole reason I purchased it again. LoL maybe it's just me, but after about 15 mins playing I started getting a headache haha. Still a fun game and totally a throwback. Good for people trying to collect.!

  • GTA - The Original that Set the Standards

What else can I say? If you don't know about Grand Theft Auto Games, then you're simply not a gamer. This is one of the originals of the 90's, generation Millennial, that set the standards of many of today's gaming... if you find one that's sealed, don't open it, hang onto it and watch the value grow. It may not be Bitcoins, but these games are only getting more difficult to obtain when they're unopened. They are the old Comic Books of our Generation. Anyway, enough ranting... just buy it 🤘🏼

  • Very entertaining, yet disappointing.

Well, we all love the GTA series and all the titles are fun. The disappointing part of this release for the dreamcast is that Rockstar decided to release the older overhead 2-D view that could be displayed on a far weaker older generation sytem like the SNES. With all the power of the Sega Dreamcast at their disposal, they used maybe 20% of the Dreanmcast's power! Weak. This game had far more potential and could have been much better and the Dreamcast was robbed of a real 3D GTA title. This game is still fun and offers alot of hours of entertainment, but could have been so much more.

  • Grand Theft Auto II for Sega Dreamcast

Grand Theft Auto II for the Sega Dreamcast is a phenomenal game. Your thrown into the gang life, learning the way and how to do gang work. In the beginning you have three gangs: the Yakuza, Loonies, and Zaibatzu. When you work for each of them you lose respect with the opposing gangs. The controls are hard to understand at first, but you adapt to them and you'll be the master in no time. The gameplay is also fantastic because you have a gang life and you have to work for certain gangs. You also have payphones to visit for missions, just like in the first one for the PlayStation. I bought Grand Theft Auto II for the Sega Dreamcast because I have a Sega Dreamcast and I love the Grand Theft Auto series. I mean who doesn't love a good night of mayhem and doing things you would never do in ...

  • Best version of the game

GTA 2 on dreamcast is perfect. The graphics are beautiful and the frame rate is buttery. The dreamcast controller is perfect for this game and it handles very well 10/10.
