Barbie becomes a globetrotting explorer in this PlayStation release inspired by Tomb Raider. As Mattel's famous doll, players will search for four missing jewels from an ancient mirror. Barbie begins her quest in the African jungle as she avoids elephants, chimpanzees, and mudslides before battling a giant python for a piece of the treasure. Other locales follow a similar format, which consists of three exploration levels before players encounter a guardian for the right to earn one of the coveted jewels.<br><br>Barbie can jump, run, walk, pull objects, push objects, and perform a diving roll as she avoids bottomless pits, animals, and solves puzzles on her way to the end of a level. Each area also has a specific number of collectible gems that encourages players to revisit levels to obtain a perfect score. Among the helpful power-ups available on each level include temporary shields, invulnerability, tip toes to walk across quicksand and collapsible floors, magic torches to reveal secret doors, and spring shoes to jump higher.<br><br>Other settings include the mountains of Tibet, filled with goats, eagles, and rope bridges, and the Egyptian desert, featuring camels, dust devils, and quicksand. Only by completing all three missions will Barbie be able to unlock the final stage held within a magical tower. A separate two-player game allows friends to alternate turns on any of the available levels, while a VR Mode helps players practice Barbie's moves in a computer simulated course. Three difficulty settings differ in the number of chances Barbie is given to complete her adventure.

    Pretty good game

    You wouldn't think a Barbie game would be so much fun, but it is! It's also a lot harder than you'd think it'd be. The game lets you chose the difficulty level, although some parts are still difficult even in easy mode. As far as graphics go, they're outdated compared to the games we have now, but they're decent considering how old the game is. There's not much to the plot of the game, but it does give you some interesting cut scenes ever so often. It's decently something kids will enjoy and something older kids or adults can play when they're bored.

    Barbie Playstation

    I brought this game for my Daughter. She has Cerbral Palsey and has fine moter skills challanges. This game is one of the few playstation games that does not require quick movements on the players part and the player can take there time to navagate most of the game.

    Barbie Explorer is a perfect game for my young Daughter. Unlikely modern game titles fully loaded with Violence and War, My old PsOne offers better enjoyable games for children,like this one!.

    hard 2nd level

    I bought it for my girls they were playing the demo all of the time so I bought it on e-bay they r playing it all of the time. The thing that my daughter didn't like is she has trouble getting past the 2nd levels on Egypt and Africa. But is is still alot of fun. They just have to keep trying

    Very fun game. Great Brithday gift.

    Great game. Lots of fun. Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider Meet Barbie is so cool. I would play this game all day long.
